Guys, I'm starting my initial plan for my Japan trip next year. How much roughly does it cost for a month backpacking over there? I'm planning to visit the whole Japan. Is RM4k enough? Or should I allocate more?

U'll need approx JPY3500/day for ur lodging & food. Multiply that for ur length of stay + transport + ticket etc.

Wait2, I never have bothered about JPY before but is our MYR bigger than JPY? blink.gif

if never been to japan before, better just stay around 1 place first. tokyo or osaka/kyoto is a good start. RM4000 probably can only fly to and stay a one place for a week and cheap meals daily (or capsule hotel and better meals daily). if visit whole japan (or those famous spots), RM10,000 maybe?

100yen is almost equal to 1USD, which is RM3.12 as of today (money changer rate). if you're more familiar with USD, a meal typically go for USD$3~$5  for cheap bento from convenient store (though they're much better compare to what's selling in malaysia including isetan) or chain store noodle/rice; USD$5~10 for better meal like ramen or set meal or conveyor belt sushi (want something nice like sushi bar or pork cutlet or unagi rice? at least $10 upward to $30+, or more for higher end sushi meal or wagyu sukiyaki etc).

traveling about USD$6~10 daily within same city, and not included airport to hotel transport.

traveling to other prefectures about $40 for nice overnight bus ride, or $130~$200 for bullet train...

haven't include stuffs like entrance ticket, souvenirs etc...

I see. I forgot to mention up there that the 4k is not included with air tickets. I've spared another part of my savings for the air tickets. And yeah if it happens, it's gonna be my first time to Japan. Wow, hmm because I'm planning to get on board the bullet trains as well, and have a ride on their subway lines to get around. Seems like I've to allocate more then. Thanks for the insight dude. Usually if Tokyo or Kyoto alone, how many days can I complete touring each city?
