I'll do a short story on Kawaguchiko.
---- Dec 2012 We take the JR Chuo Line from Shinjuku to Otsuki. Freezing cold outside, but warm and comfy inside JR Chuo. At Otsuki, quickly change to private Fujikyu Line, with its interesting trains. The ticket inspector also pushes a trolley selling foodstuff, 2-in-1 job. En route to Kawaguchiko, good view of Fuji-san from Fujikyu train. Can even stand begin the driver to see how the train is operated. Kawaguchiko station at last, see how cute our train is. Our train, another cutie to the left. I love the Japanese! In front of station, cross main street to get to town and to the lake area. 5.7C, still warm, if no wind. Nice lunch at restaurant facing lakefront. Short walk to cable car for ascend up Mount Tenjo lookout. [TO BE CONTINUED] |

KAWAGUCHIKO Part 2
Up Mount Tenjo lookout, a bit disappointed with clouds at Mount Fuji. But I know, this type of cloud cover can change any time, so we wait. Nice building at lookout. With rooftop viewing platform. Small interesting shrine also. Mount Fuji still shy, but we can wait. Suddenly there it is! We love Mount Fuji too! > TO BE CONTINUED |

KAWAGUCHIKO Part 3
We are so satisfied. 3776m above sea level it is. Mission accomplished, we get down and walk back to station. Kawaguchiko Station. Very nicely done, just like any highland station. Our train back to Otsuki. Bye-bye Fuji-san! > THE END This post has been edited by mat sputnik: Jan 12 2013, 12:50 PM |

Halal Food in Akihabara, Tokyo
We bumped into this Indian eatery while loitering in Akihabara last month. Quite good, value for money. Location is '+' on Wikimapia here: http://wikimapia.org/#lat=35.702045&lon=13...12&z=19&l=0&m=m To get GPS fix, just extract numbers from URL above. === |

Halal Food in Shin-Okubo, Tokyo
This is another one we stumbled upon in Shin-Okubo, while looking for the K-pop shops, but that's another story. Location is '+' in this Wikimapia, for GPS fix, just take the numbers in the link below. There are several other halal outlets in the area. http://wikimapia.org/#lat=35.7019936&lon=1...01&z=19&l=0&m=m Just one pic, since we took-away the kebabs -- not too tasty, a bit bland, maybe to cater for Japanese taste! === |
