Hi, i have some question hope someone can explain :
1) Are there any rule when the second word attached to made a new word the pronuntiation add the extra "
example : 説 originally pronouce as つ but some time when it combine to become new word the pronuntiation change to つ, do we have to memorize it for each combination or they are ONLY certain condition/rule it add extra "
小説(しょうつ)
演説(えんつ)

2) For , how come sometimes the "ku" voice is read as "k" only
example :
学生(がくせい, i think japanese spell it as "gaksei" instead of "gakusei")

3) Do we need to memorise/understand the Kanji reading of ON reading and Kun Reading?
Currently i just memorise the JLPT/N vocab reading, not really sure do we need to care on the those ON reading and Kun Reading

がくせい is formally and properly pronounced as "gaksei".
く contracts to "k" when it preceeds さ, し, す, せ, そ.

Other examples include
沢山 たくさん
落選 らくせん
嫡子 ちゃくし
奥さん おくさん  etc etc...

thanks a lot tongue.gif
Any sos of this rule?

I got another problem is for 家
when to pronouse いえ and when to pronouce うち?

その家は全焼した (いえ)
家の庭は。。。 (うち)

How to know which to prononce? Any rule?

Can anyone intro a good forum/place to get help on japanese language learning?

What is the reason you're selling the books? I see the reason as "not needed anymore" meaning that your Japanese is very good already...?
*
Not "very good", but since i already pass N3 so these books not needed anymore

To improve listening - try listen to JapanesePod101 podcast

To memorise hiragana and katakana, try to memorise hiragana first. What I did last time is I get a Japanese learning book that is without any romaji, then I write their romaji on top of the characters. After doing this for some time then I start to memorise them already. After that do the same thing to katakana. But katakana i think is more difficult to remember than hiragana.
*
I found that memorising both hiragana and katagana on the same time will just mess up both table together
So i just memorise hiragana, for katagana i memorize through words instead (memorise reading of カレンダー instead of each character)

But i still having problem in listening, my brain cant follow the speed

Use flashcards preferably with a practice partner. Works like a charm. 2 weeks intensive practice is all you need. After that it's all about regular use, which you can get by using textbooks that does NOT use romaji.

REPEAT AFTER ME: "I SHALL NOT RELY ON ROMAJI."

listen more. leave the minna no nihongo tapes for the class room. Outside of it you need multiple sessions j-dorama/doraemon/NHK without the subs.
Listening comprehension is a 2 step process:
the first step is to be able to "tune" your hearing so you catch the syllables and follow the natural rhythm of the language.
2nd step comes after your hearing is "tuned", which is to check up unfamiliar words in a dictionary
*
Ya now I'm full time practicing listening skill, didn't focus much on kanji/grammar
You watch anime/NHK without sub can understand notworthy.gif , i can't too fast for me to catch
You got any site to watch anime/drama/NHK with japanese sub to recommend?

I think we just have to memorize as we learning, no short cut way to memorize the pronunciation of this kind of word. Besides yakedo, what condition we pronounce it as かしょう Is also a question mark for me
Another example
故郷ーふるさと、こきょう
家ーいえ、うち

Hi,

1 year course ussually about Rm1k+ i think

My recommendation :
1) JFKL (Japan Foundation)
2) JLSM (Japan Language Society)
3) JCKL (Japan Club) - Institut Bahasa Teikyo - suitable if you prepare to further study in Japan, since course focus on EJU

Good luck.
