The salary of fresh PhDs (usually as Asst. Prof.) in Malaysia:
University of Nottingham, Malaysia Campus: RM6,500
Monash University (Malaysia): RM6,000
Taylor's University: RM5,500

Of course not all PhD holders can gain employment from these institutions but I believe it's quite a good deal if one were to be interested to go into the academia.
