f**k yeah i care for more pics! biggrin.gif

nice progress.i havent really seen how the dukes fit pics.my taste is still on the imperial shearer, this duke looks bit more slim straight yea?
i really like that honeycombs!
*
yeap, slim/straight. thought that i already got a skinny n&f which i sized down, maybe i could use a looser fit. tbh i dont like it as well at first, but really comes in handy when u want to be less restrained with a skinny jeans.

great progress, apsidewatch. How do you get knee fades man? I can't seem to get em haha.

U do know what you are looking for right? generally MIJ raw denim can be divided by few category;

1. Denim : Japan Construction : Japan
Momotaro, Pure Blue Japan, Evisu, Samurai, Imperial.

2. Denim : Japan Construction : Elsewhere.
Old Blue co., N&F, Railcar Fine Goods, Ande Whall.

some rants, got itchy since i got nbtd this holiday

A word of advice; Learn more of what you can get with certain range of price and what makes a denim an expensive hobby (admit it, its crazy to pay almost 1k for a pair of pants that you end up trashing the hell of it sweat.gif ), you will be more willing to spend. nod.gif

i never bought an expensive jeans before...my 1st expensive jeans is adidas slim fit (im a student tak ada duit maa)  doh.gif ...cost me about 6++ since im an adidas lover...thats why i asked it worth or not to buy that jeans since adidas is not a main "player" in denim industries... sweat.gif  sweat.gif

before that i only wear the bundle jeans ...its cheaper but i can get the great denim from great brand but if you only "rajin menyelam"

so how about this jeans 45 rpm, HR market, APC, Big Stone etc?its japan made right?
*
if u really tight on cash, get cheesedenim. for the price of RM380.00 , u got a kaihara mills production. for me the price is really great for a starting pair. or go search at the lowyat tradezone for some cheap nudies/apc/unbranded/n&f.. they can be very cheap if u know where to look but be careful for imitation.

that being said, still go for cheesedenim honestly. rm380 for a 14oz, the best bangs for bucks.

nice thread n info..gotta get my 1st denim..dont consider myself denimhead, but other then working slack i like jeans more then others..tried drwstring, not my style.

anyway quick Q, as soaking will cause fading / colour lost and shriking..has anyone use it regularly with bike bike..fading is not an issue as thats de style we want..but shriking in the current raining state?
advices are appreciated
*
sanforized denim doesn't shrink much. if it is unsanforized, then do a pre-soak before wearing the jeans. not an issue if you're going through the rain. Key point here is don't worry to much and just wear it.

thats disappointing. could it be caused by the 2% elastane in the UJ ?

but it is possible for regular jeans to get fades rite ?

i remember my 10+ yr old Levis had some fades.
*
of course, there's a few pairs on the net i've stumbled. but not much, since the jeans already been treated with chemicals to preserve the indigo.
anyhow, the elastane doesnt play much role on the non-fading jeans since there's a lot of raws that have 2%> elastane on them.

cool fit @junkyman. is that ur working outfit?

QUOTE(jhchong @ Dec 31 2012, 05:09 PM)
Imo, that's damn gross lol.

Not to apside only, but everyone should not be worry to wash or soak your denim from time to time. It won't lose indigo that easily.

Sometimes I think about the backsplash of pee, the sweat and dirt. Imagine the filth and bacteria that you got waist down upon wearing the denim first thing in one's day.
*
QUOTE(dlaz @ Dec 31 2012, 06:32 PM)
g as you clean them fast your jeans/clothes will survive.the mold can destroy the fabric if left untreated.
your room must be damp either due to the weather/not enough exposure to sunlight or maybe too much aircond thus the room is damp/cold.
all my nudies have gone through that.my room is very damp, the window is not exposed to the sunlight so if i was rotating jeans, the ones that's been left unworn for 2 weeks like that will develop molds on them.
so i just wash them or do a cold soak with a bit of detergent.
hanging them out in the sun will kill the mold too.dont forget buy humidifiers, the small packet ones is good too.i bought a bunch of mine at daiso.also store them in my shoe boxes collection too.investment have to take care.lol.

not that i like it, but its raining 24/7 here in east coast and there's no way u could dry ur raw denim with this kind of weather. even if u manage to dry them, it would still be musty due to how long the denim stores the water before being dry again.

besides, im leaving tomorrow so just another day to see the summer. as of now i clean it with damp cloth, proper wash will be taken asap.

#Random. have u guys watched Warp & Weft ; A Snapshot of Raw Denim in United States ? . I would really recommend to at least watch it once. worth the money you're paying for both new denimheads or the veterans. U got to see inside the vault of Levi's and stories of denim in a persons life and a whole lot more.

its a bit pricy, so my suggestion is to pool a sum of money and buy the physical blue-ray version, and rotate among those who paid.

u got a password to watch the video on vimeo. but with a few tricks, of course u can save it on ur laptop smile.gif . Just be considerate on giving the movie to others, they put a lot of hard work on this, piracy will only make our small community worsen. do support them to get more quality documentary

found a shop that stocks APC in melbourne, yeah even APCs are rare here.. u can find hundreds of nudies but not APC, or even NF. I tried the New Petite Standard, and the fit was spot on. Do any of you guys know other raw denim with a similar fit?

took some pictures but turned out the lighting of the fitting room is not good.

is it the one behind flinders street? APCs are rare and overpriced there...in fact a lot of stuff is overpriced in AUS
*
Yeah that one, incu on flinders lane. 215aud iirc. Thats the problem, u cant really sell raw denim over here, i tried many shops but most of em are either doesnt stock raw denims anymore or closed for good.

QUOTE(Grimm @ Jan 13 2013, 01:30 AM)
The ones i know are :

Harrolds and That Store for N&F
Assin for Dior Homme
and that little boutique in QV for APCs

FAT may carry some good stuff, I don't know.

And Ksubi used to be awesome until they changed owners.
*
Little boutique in QV as in the one at swanston st? Havent notice any APCs..

I asked the japanese shop that sells jap tees, the shop attendant said that they will restock some jap denim, but not sure for the brands. My pray is for it to be anything but not evisu..

Oh yeah, its Incu that sells APCs.

Whirlpool has a thread on raw/selvedge denim too. There is quite a community in Australia for raw denim - or maybe just a few active posters.

sry maybe i should rephrase my question, is there any shop that stocks japanese or any good quality raw denim in melbourne? Cheap Monday, Ksubi, Dr. Denim for me is just a company joining the hype for the sake of money.. nothing to be proud of. Unlike 3Sixteen, Momotaro, PBJ, Sammies that strive for a better raw denim with each of their production.

already checked at Up There, they dont have 3Sixteen anymore.. only Noir with a bad fit imo.
