Guys, is it possible to have a ATI 7970M in my sager NP8130 ? Like just buy a ATI 7970 n replace it inside ? Since Sager NP 8130 is an MXM compatible.... does it work ? Also is the default power supply which is 120 W if i'm not mistaken works well with it ? Thanks.

QUOTE(hihihehe @ Jul 13 2012, 10:37 PM) nope. 7970m need bigger watts Yeah. I'm guessing the bigger brick 180W . QUOTE(girugaga86 @ Jul 13 2012, 11:28 PM) Well, the np 9130's GPU can be upgraded if you change the power supply from 120W to 180W. A few confirmed this in the NBR forum but I havent seen anyone that actually do it. Not sure if the 8130 could be the same but hopefully it can. Yes. I know about this just want to double check. Also last time Np8130 can fit in a Nvidia 580M or ATI 6970M card. But again u need to upgrade the power supply. Just wondering if that i do that, do i need to do anything else ? Like update the BIOS or something of that sort? Any Sifu can clarify ?

QUOTE(hihihehe @ Jul 14 2012, 09:44 AM) i believe that will be both. also, the bios need to have compatible with 7970m as well. QUOTE(skeith @ Jul 14 2012, 11:39 AM) Anybody can confirm this ? Was actually thinking of doing this as my graduation present. I wonder how much will a 7970 discreet card cost ? Do u really need to change so many things for a new GC ? LOL

QUOTE(Prince J @ Dec 14 2012, 12:08 PM) The 180W adapter is compulsory. The NP8130 cannot upgrade its GPU to GTX 6 series, which 5 series GPU you want to use? Are u sure about that bro? cause i think i read somewhere there are ppl out there changing their GC's for their NP8130 which of course needs a bigger Power supply (180W) and they are using GTX675M and ATI7970. Which by any chance are u guys selling it as standalone along with the Power supply ? And how much does it cost ? Of course you will need to flash ur bios. And correct me if i'm wrong, Isnt the NP8130 and NP8150 the exact same thing interms of build ? Except NP8150 has a bigger default power supply?
