I have applied for UPU for september 2012 intake, but i'm confused wether MUET is a must or not. In the UPU requirement, it states you need MUET to apply UPU, but when i visit some universities websites just to look up their requirements, they said "At least B in english language for SPM , OR Band 2 in MUET"

QUOTE(azarimy @ Jul 1 2012, 09:42 PM) u missed the part where it says "sekurang-kurangnya". yeah, sekurang-kurangnya. and whats the problem with it? "mendapat Diploma blablabla DAN SEKURANG-KURANGNYA kepujian pada peringkat SPM"put that in the sentence and u'll realize the sense it makes and it needs kepujian in matematik and english OR / ATAU band 2 MUET. ???? please explain "kepujian dalam bahasa inggeris pada peringkat SPM ATAU band 2 MUET" ATAU? what is ATAU? |

'atau' means 'or'.
it means whichever is lowest. for example: person A did not get kepujian for english, but did get a MUET band 3. person B only managed a band 1 for MUET, but scored kepujian for it in SPM. both persons fulfilled the requirements to apply. |

QUOTE(borneovampire @ Jul 1 2012, 03:20 PM) True i think u misunderstood. The problem is, in Malaysia, if you want to enter IPTA , you must apply from UPU. to apply to any IPTAs, u must have taken MUET. but some universities or courses may put the requirement as band 3, but others like UTM is enough with band 1. whatever it is, u must have taken MUET, regardless of bands, to apply through UPU. this is UPU's requirement. u can use ur SPM to qualify for a course, but if u've never taken MUET, u can not apply. |

you do not need to have muet to enter....
but you need muet to graduate.... and like utm's requirement, you just need to prove you have sat for muet....you just need to enrol, go write your name, and walk out, you will get band 1, and you have passed...... which is why muet is a joke..... |

QUOTE(limeuu @ Jul 1 2012, 04:18 PM) you do not need to have muet to enter.... well, that's because some of UTM's courses are for japan/korea insertion programme. so we dont have blanket statements like 'must have muet band 2' etc.but you need muet to graduate.... and like utm's requirement, you just need to prove you have sat for muet....you just need to enrol, go write your name, and walk out, you will get band 1, and you have passed...... which is why muet is a joke..... |

Yeah, hopefully, I pray to God if i succeed to enter IPTA (without MUET, lol) , i will do my best, because I have set in my mind, if i can't continue study this year, then I won't continue study again, forever. Better focus on making money lol.Added on July 2, 2012, 12:39 amseriously, the mohe's requirement that all students should show english proficiency by taking muet is a big joke....because many unis don't care about english, and accept the lowest band.....which basically means going in to write your name in the exam and hand up a blank piece of paper.... it's like uk and oz unis requiring ielts band 1 for entry into their courses..... |

another thing.
in UTM, although the requirement is literally "have taken MUET" and not "have passed MUET", we do have another english exam for graduating students. i heard the exam is about the same as MUET, but the passing requirement is higher. if u fail this, u will have to postpone ur graduation until u pass. this is according to belief that the students will develop their english in a learning environment predominantly in english. something like "u put anyone in a UK school, and he'll definitely pickup and improve his english in 3 years time". |

But for UTM , you MUST have MUET (no 'or' and no exception to use english result in SPM). Actually i am curious, yang menentukan pemohon tu layak masuk IPTA , pihak UPU atau pihak IPTA tersebut? because for me, UPU tu just like a system untuk anda isi permohonan dan synchronize with your existing database (data peribadi anda yang disimpan kerajaan seperti maklumat IC , result SPM anda disimpan kementerian pelajaran, etc). Right? Sebab at the end, you have to print out the UPU documents, dan hantar ke IPTA pilihan anda. I think different IPTA have different standards, either they can use MUET or use SPM (if the applicant dont have MUET yet). This post has been edited by borneovampire: Jul 2 2012, 11:58 PM |
