I forgot the formalities.
Hiya all, I'm kai. from Cheras. Just bought this Nexus from jpaq. bought the phone on impulse buy actually. I was researching for an android phone for my friend, but when I found this particular model, then he cancelled. But i dont mind at all. fall in love with the phone already. so i take the phone that was suppose to be my his's.
I am also a proud user of Apple iPod Touch 4G. So using both platform at the same time opens up my eyes even more. I got a glimpse of what one party can do, and what it cannot do. its the same, and it all comes down to how we actually use our gadget.
Having use 4.0.2 for 30mins, then 4.0.4 for another 5 hours, I upgraded to 4.1 using the guide from XDA forum. I was lucky coz decided to swich from nokia symbian to Android4.1. this phone is powerfull, and got lots of charms, but not much people have heard about the phone, even Samsung part-timers event girls dont recognize the GNexus, i was LOLOLOL....
Still, for people like me who don't mind making his phone an expensive paperweight, android is a good choice, and I was lucky to find a very good phone to start my android experience. Just run stock 4.1(although deoxed??what is this?) and minimal modifications throughout the phone. My ipod needs a lot of mods from cydia just to adjust it how i like it, but JB4.1 almost got all the things I want, and that is the best for me.
all the good, now comes the not so good part,
I got few more concerns such as app supports, garbage apps in google play, slow media player and most of them dont even play mkv, flv well. and the codec support quite bad. and I still see UI inconsistency even in stock apps. that does not include apps that we can get from google play. even though the UI is smooth, I still can feel it is not as smooth as any IOS i've used (not fresh from boot, but overtime use) maybe my eyes extra sensitive, i dunno.
maybe my rant TBC next time (if i got motivation to write), overall, great phone for its price point, and if (and only if) WP7 got much more apps in its disposal, Lumia 800/900 is the only direct competitor for the gnexus.
