Does the Elantra come with a Distance to Empty reading (DTE)?

All cars will usually get better mileage the first half of the tank. The reason being the max fuel sensor isnt located at the very top of the tank. Thats why the first bar drops the slowest in any car. Also, more fuel is lost when the tank is half empty compared to a almost full tank.

Nothing to test actually. Its common knowledge that ull get better mileage with the first half of the tank compared to the final half. What's more important is your fuel consumption and actual mileage per full tank.

For those of you with Distance to Empty meters, do a test and find out the actual consumption at various speeds. Ive found the following:

1) At 110kmph, DTE dropped 50km but actual distance travelled was 100km
2) At 130kmph, DTE dropped 50km but actual distance travelled was 65km
3) At 150kmph, DTE was same as the actual distance travelled.

So basically driving up to 140kmph on a straight moderately flat highway is still considered quite economical. Btw, my car is a Kia Optima K5.

Seem like Elantra brother is coming Forte production unit, but probably next year though.

I dont really know but after so long i still cant fathom how Hyundai SD can price the Elantra 1.8L at RM 114,888 when their closest competitor, the Forte 2.0L is only RM97K. Even the Civic 1.8S is RM 115,980. If the Elantra came in a 2.0L engine it would be about RM 125K. Thats a good 28K extra over its rival.

I know the Elantra design is good but still at this price?? If Naza Kia still keeps prices low with good specs when they launch the new Forte K3 in 2013, Elantra will suffer for sure. I think. What do you think?
