Just got mine, and I agree about the box. The initial stage (the part where you have to slide it out) requires a power level of 9000+.... Seriously, you can enter that box in some sort of World's Strongest Man competition. >_<

Anyways, I just spent the last hour setting it up. First I examined all the edges, the glass the micro-usb port, the glass again, the back ..etc.

then set up my account, downloaded all my apps. Then did a dead pixel test. Then tested the navigation.. accelerometer seems to be working good, though I need to confirm later with some games.

No problems so far. Touch wood. Currently charging the bugger. Gonna try out more after a full charge.

First impressions:
It's built quite well. The back is lovely. The voice assistant for UK-English sucks. He's some cocky sounding guy, damn arrogant. Like those Earl's of Buckingham palace or something. The type of personality you definitely want to bash with a hammer in real life. . Change to the US English version for the sexy girl. Much better, although the stupid Americans still cannot spell "tyre" and "colour" correctly >_>

No $25 free credit or Transformers or books (there's no big media widget like in the reviews), which was to be expected, but I don't really care about that.

Oh, yeah, the thing is fast. Jelly Bean itself isn't really that new to me since I already have a Galaxy Nexus, but the apps all open faster on this Nexus 7 thanks to the faster processor, probably. I only had a bit of lag the first time Google+ was synching after the 4.1.1 update.

Don't plan to root it just yet. will see how it runs for a week or two.

Its still cheaper than other quad core tablet. Even after taxed by dealers.
Frankly speaking first gen android tablet are based on tegra 2, which is a sad failure.

Samsung tab 7.7 is exynos which is great but slow update.
And expensive. And bloated wit touch wiz.

Asus transformer 300, prime, and infinity are good, wit the keyboard combo its excellent, but the price is insane. Close to 2k.

So I wouldn't complain bout the nexus 7 price.
Same performance at a smaller size.

Nice to hold and carry around.

The files are copied from pen drive using USB otg, so the words got converted to ??
Nexus itself is able to type n read both modern n traditional Chinese.

A friend had the same problem with MX Player with ICS on HTC One X, diceplayer solved the issue.

Interesting. I think you have no choice but to root it and see how it perform.

U cn use air Droid to side load apk. Its very effective.

Woot...Just got my Nexus 7 an hour ago..   
Got my USD25 using VPN method without any problem.   
Still getting familiar with Android since I didnt use any Android system for almost 2 years.
Ship out from Shipito warehouse on 17 July. Should be last week but since here is long holiday (Last Thursday & Friday)

there's a very very frustrating issue with nexus 7, or maybe its jelly bean fault.

quite alot of apps listed not compatible in play store.
but there are definitely running fine after i sideload them.

at first i thought is due to the dpi change.
but i restore back to stock dpi also listed as not compatible.

here's a list of stuff listed as not compatible.
~astro file manager
~notification volume
~shoot the zombirds
~dice player
~androzip

i have to use my phone to download,
use astro file manager to make an apk of the file,
upload to google drive, and install from google drive in my tablet.

why not use bluetooth? because cant transfer apk by bluetooth
everytime try sure fail.

maybe google forcing us to use google drive. sweat....

by the way, all listed app working perfectly after install.
there really is no reason to list them as not compatible.

I'm also 4.1.1 ota.

Stock ROM and kernel.
Rooted and DPI change using ROM manager,

Even after I restore back to stock DPI, still can't download.
U using us play store?
