The moment you purchase, warranty starts. Theres a serial number on MacBooks and you can check your warranty status on Apple's website

@lazybump_nonsense
that's cos the people who sold it never reported it as sold to Apple.
so you'll need to send to Apple, the original invoice / receipt
if lost, ... still need to inform them.
AFAIK, without proof of purchase from a official partner, they'll set it to an estimated date.

you can just use it without going to the Apple resellers, they won't do anything.
only problem is if Apple ask you for a proof of purchase when you register the warranty.
however they won't ask for proof of purchase if the date that hardware left the factory and the date you're registering is not too far apart

@lazybump_nonsense call the AppleCare hotline 1800 803 638 and tell them you bought it 2nd-hand and the previous owner has lost the receipt.
Then they'll fix it.

if you send it in later for warranty claims, then its *much* more complicated to sort it out.

Reseller cannot help you, even service partner can't do much. Quickest way is call the hotline directly, they can help

Hi, long time mac user here. icon_rolleyes.gif

Bought the base 13" rMBP for uni. The 128gb SSD is perfectly fine with my usage.

Arriving on the 24th. Can't freaking wait. rclxm9.gif

For what i do, yes. I have a 12TB raid nas server to serve all my data needs.
Only storing a few word documents and some pdf files only on this machine. laugh.gif

If you're planning to dual boot your system with windows and OS X, i suggest you getting the 256GB as it can be a little tight. As of right now I have 92GB left, and that only contains applications and the OS itself.

So yeah, go for the 256 as you can't upgrade later. Better to invest now, than suffer later.

Hope this helps. smile.gif

when i bought my macbook, the warranty sticker was sticked to the box itself.
you don't really need to register the warranty via apple website i guess. but i did anyway just in case.

so in this case, the buyer never register his/her purchase on apple website.
