Hi! smile.gif I do not know of anyone selling their GP, but I discovered a breeder, they breed the GP and have so so many of them! Adult & baby GP's too. They have this one breed called Peruvian that has long silky hair I cannot even see her face, basically look like a mop. Sadly when I was stroking the hair I found mites & their living condition are not the best, quite dirty & was fed cheap pellete perhaps rabbit pellets? Im not sure. I feel bad for them. The water dropper that I saw was extremely dirty too. If you want to save them or any of you want to buy them so they can get better owners, please email me asap. I feel sad for their life. sad.gif

Hi guys. Just wanna ask i have two guinea pigs n they seem to have black spots on their fur all over their bodies. How do i treat this? The spots doesnt seem to be moving and they dont seem too bothered about it. Never noticed the, scratching n stuff when i take them out for playtime.

Could you please advise? I would upload a pic of them perhaps tomorrow when i get on my phone sad.gif i have not tried bathing them so im not sure if it would help? I clean their c&c cage once a week, their toilet once in two to three days and sweep up their poo daily sad.gif not sure whats wrong with them cry.gif  cry.gif

if i need to take them to the vet which vet would you recommend? Dr jenny or dr yeoh? I have not seen any recent reviews on them so im not sure if they are still practicing? If you have recently been there, could i have their numbers so that i can set up an appointment to bring my piggies there?

Thank you so much in advanced! biggrin.gif

Maybe mites. Try to bath them with vinegar + water. 1 part vinegar 2 part water and see if the black dot disappear or not.
Its good to have your gp checked up once in a while. Both Dr.Jenny and Dr Yeoh still practicing.
Make sure you do an appointment first if you want to meet Dr Jenny. She always got a tight schedule. Both are good vets though smile.gif

Hey tobby! Thank you for your reply. I have just actually gave them a warm bath with baby shampoo and soaked them in vinegar and water. The dots definitely has lessend but still there. Do you have any idea where dr jenny is practicing at? I saw in another post that shes no longer in hands and paws. If you could give me the contact number to reach her i would be very grateful. Thanks once again tobby! smile.gif

Oh, I went back to the pet store where I bought my cavies and they offer to let my cavies board there. Same rate as other boarding places. Phew!
By the way, thank you for your kind thoughts. biggrin.gif

Anyone know the best place to buy a hairless guinea pig? I believe it's called Teddy as well.

Saw one in Pets Wonderland MV but not sure if it'll still be there when I want to buy it ... Aiming for Xmas purchase.

Thanks!

Hello all.

Im letting (selling) my 2 male cavies go. (2 babies & 4 cavies at home is getting quite hands full)

Both are Abyssinian's.
3 months old.
Able to mate. (Will neuter if requested)
Both get along well.
Chocolate is a milk chocolate colored cavy.
Poochie is a tricolor with white body & black & orange
spots on his head.
Both have different personalities;
Chocolate is calmer,more mature.
Poochie is more uptight but willing to co-operate.
Both are loving creatures & love to be petted.
Both are happy in a spacious c&c cage.
Both are perfectly healthy & clean pets (had regular bath and cleaning for them)

IMPORTANT!
Please do not email me if;
1. You never own a guinea pig before.
2. You have small children.
3. You want to breed the guinea pigs.
4. You want to put them in stupid small pet shop cages.
5. You want to only feed them rabbit food.
6. You are unable to commit (work 9-5,frequent
outstations etc)
7. You want to resell them at higher price point.
8. You have no knowledge on guinea pig care & handling.
9. You want to only buy Chocolate or Poochie.
10. You want to buy them for fun.

This is serious. Im an animal lover & I despise any
mistreatment to them. I have to let go of them, because
its getting overwhelming with a baby. But if I dont have
kids, I will definitely keep them.

Only contact me if you have a large c&c cage with fleece bedding & adequate hay, fresh fruits & veggies & clean water plus lots of love & attention. Other than that; please don't email me.

I will send my email via private message only.
Pictures only will be shown in emails.

Thank you! smile.gif

Hi all,

May I know how do you clean your GP?

I have recently gotten myself a hairless guinea pig and I think a weekly clean is essential to maintain cleanliness (avoid parasites or sickness)

He is a lot more active and friendly compared to day 1 but it still is quite hard to actually carry him and him not running around due to fear.

I purchased GP shampoo but it is quite hard to handle the GP as he is still very shy. Pet shop is recommending me like a powder wipe where I will just wipe the powder on him and wipe him clean.

So may I know what brand powder are you using and where did you get them?

Thanks!

did u mean just carrots only only? do u have the pellets & hay? GP needs vitamin C cause they cannot produce their own. change vegetables every now and then is best. can give cucumbers, tomatos, lettuce & bell peppers.

a picture of your GP will be best. when in doubt just bring to vet.

when i got one of my GP he had a bald patches in some places and the skin is rough so brought to the vet. the vet say is some sort of fungus attack then took fur samples of the surrounding place and then do some sampling test to 'find the antidote'. few days later went back to get the medicine and apply on GP everyday until he's ok.

Hi all,

I intend to get a guinea pig as a pet as my hamster died a few months back and I am feeling lonely without a furry animal T.T

Question is, where will the pigs poop/pee? do they do it amongst their bedding which then I will have to do spot cleaning?

Is it more advisable to get a bottom wired cage (but I'm afraid it might hurt their feet but I read at forums they said its better as the poop will frop to them bottom making it easier to clean ) or a plastic bottom with bedding?

Thanks.

My guinea pig Milo passed away last Thursday morning.

It had suddenly lost its appetite and was having the slobbers. On the day I brought it to the vet, its 2 front teeth fell off. The vet said it was normal and that it was doing okay. Said I needed to just monitor it and I may need to bring it back for regular oral examination and teeth cleaning.

Milo was the same, no improvement. I chopped carrot into very tiny bits and had to had feed it. I had to hand feed it pellets and tear green veges into tiny pieces.

It would sit in the food bowl all day long. It's poop looked very soft and it's bum would be smudged in poo. Its mouth also smelled like gastric acid.

Not sure what happened to it. Died 4 days after the visit to the vet.

It was 3 and a half years old.

Hi to all the GP owners here.

I'm here to sell off my alfafa hay because I bought the wrong hay (intended to buy timothy, only discovered it was alfafa after opening the package) because I was in a rush.
1kg alfafa hay, letting go for RM25 including postage.

Thank you very much!

Sorry about your hamster sad.gif

They will poop/pee all over the place and yes, it will be amongst the bedding. Up to you if you want to spot clean. I tried a few days and after that I gave up. I change the bedding 3-5 days depending on how free I am.

I bought one is the non-bottom wire which I kinda regret because it will be easier for you to clean plus it is much cleaner for your guinea pigs. Since they poop and pee everywhere, when u bring them out to play imagine all those stains on you. shakehead.gif If you aren't worried about it then no problem for you lah. For me, after I give them floor time I will always wipe the area they've crawled over.

Hi,

i) Nope - They need to have variety of vegetables and fruits occasionally. High Vit C veges such bell peppers, spinach is recommended. To tell you the truth, I rarely feed my GPs with carrot smile.gif . Hay need to be in their cage 24/7 and for pellet mine I top up twice a day - morning and after back from work.

ii & iii) I always find it is better for us to bring any new GPs, or any pets to the vet for thoroughly checkup. So you will know what you getting yourself into.

Wired bottom is recommended. You can cover it up with toilet mat on top so it wont hurt their tine little feet.

Hi, my hurley is 6 years old and she has recently lost her hubby few months ago so right now she is staying alone.

Since last week her appetite has become smaller but luckily she still take baby tomatoes and some other greens but not alot.

I suspect its depression as there is no sign of other diseases, her tooth is not too long, her poop is not liquid. I notice she like to stare at 1 corner for quite long, is this depression? Will she get better if she mix with other pigs? Pls help!!!
