Sorry, I normally send mind to one boarding place in Selayang. That is quite far from your place.
Oh, I went back to the pet store where I bought my cavies and they offer to let my cavies board there. Same rate as other boarding places. Phew!
By the way, thank you for your kind thoughts. biggrin.gif

hi. new GP owner here. would like to hear few comment regarding ;

i) is it okay if i feed my GP with carrot only everyday?
ii)i saw a rough/hard/dry skin near my GP eye. is it serious?
iii)i saw a bit hair hair loss too. should i be worried or its normal for GP?

Many Thanks
*
did u mean just carrots only only? do u have the pellets & hay? GP needs vitamin C cause they cannot produce their own. change vegetables every now and then is best. can give cucumbers, tomatos, lettuce & bell peppers.

a picture of your GP will be best. when in doubt just bring to vet.

when i got one of my GP he had a bald patches in some places and the skin is rough so brought to the vet. the vet say is some sort of fungus attack then took fur samples of the surrounding place and then do some sampling test to 'find the antidote'. few days later went back to get the medicine and apply on GP everyday until he's ok.

Hi all,

I intend to get a guinea pig as a pet as my hamster died a few months back and I am feeling lonely without a furry animal T.T

Question is, where will the pigs poop/pee? do they do it amongst their bedding which then I will have to do spot cleaning?

Is it more advisable to get a bottom wired cage (but I'm afraid it might hurt their feet but I read at forums they said its better as the poop will frop to them bottom making it easier to clean ) or a plastic bottom with bedding?

Thanks.
*
Sorry about your hamster sad.gif

They will poop/pee all over the place and yes, it will be amongst the bedding. Up to you if you want to spot clean. I tried a few days and after that I gave up. I change the bedding 3-5 days depending on how free I am.

I bought one is the non-bottom wire which I kinda regret because it will be easier for you to clean plus it is much cleaner for your guinea pigs. Since they poop and pee everywhere, when u bring them out to play imagine all those stains on you. shakehead.gif If you aren't worried about it then no problem for you lah. For me, after I give them floor time I will always wipe the area they've crawled over.

My guinea pig Milo passed away last Thursday morning.

It had suddenly lost its appetite and was having the slobbers. On the day I brought it to the vet, its 2 front teeth fell off. The vet said it was normal and that it was doing okay. Said I needed to just monitor it and I may need to bring it back for regular oral examination and teeth cleaning.

Milo was the same, no improvement. I chopped carrot into very tiny bits and had to had feed it.  I had to hand feed it pellets and tear green veges into tiny pieces.

It would sit in the food bowl all day long. It's poop looked very soft and it's bum would be smudged in poo. Its mouth also smelled like gastric acid.
Not sure what happened to it. Died 4 days after the visit to the vet.

It was 3 and a half years old.

i asked the same ques at another forum.
the members there said the calcium in genesis is too high and better stick back to oxbow.
*
is it? so if eat too much what happens? will fall sick? I think Genesis is good. the fur really becomes smooth and silky. my other frens also gave genesis to their piggies. so for me, i think is ok. but once in a while i do change to other ciplak brand cuz dun wan them become picky later.

Hi,

has anyone fed their GP Genesis extruded food pellet before?

currently feeding mine Oxbow Cavy Performance (Cause he's only about 5 months) but am thinking of switching to Genesis but there aren't many reviews about it online. Was wondering if anyone has tried Genesis? Your comments are much appreciated.

Also, my GP has a fungus infection on his foot, any recommended cream for it and where to get it? Also, what's the cause that he got a fungus infection?

Few others told me to get fungal cream or aloe vera oil but i have no idea where to get them.

Thanks.

my piggies eat genesis. no problems for me. their fur really smooth and silky. once in a while i will give them ciplak brand so i saw the difference. btw, i've never tried oxbow. where can buy this brand?

so the few others who told u to get the cream... they dunno where to get ah? last time one of my piggies got fungal infection. just bring to vet and the vet will pick a skin sample and check and give u the medicine a few days later.

Having trouble introducing my new Rex to my old skinny pig ... they are both male and about the same age (6 months)

Rex is more of the dominant type whereas Skinny is submissive. Did the buddy bath and it was okay but yesterday went to sleep with a separator in the middle of the cage and somehow Rex managed to burrow through it and bit the skinny (luckily only one mark)

People are saying that fighting NEEDS TO BE DONE as they decide on dominance. But it is painful to see my skinny getting hurt sad.gif

Any ideas how I can introduce them?

how are they now? last time i divide them both in different cages but put them side by side and suddenly one day they just calling for each other. so after tat i put them together they started popcorning. until now no fighting.

what i noticed from my pig for having too much calcium is the urine is in a milky color, slowly will cause bladder stone.
that time i gave her cheap pallets then her urine straight away turn milky so i stopped.

do you face this kind of problem while giving her genesis? if not then i am thinking of changing to genesis too because i noticed genesis products always got promotion and the greeny pallets look so nice. rclxms.gif
*
oh milky white? umm, so far my ones dun have, oledi more than one year old from young feed genesis. their urines are clear. sometimes let them run around while clean cage so will suddenly step on their urine but since it's clear u dunno it was there. shakehead.gif

yalo genesis always got promotion tho expensive but my piggies will clear their bowl, never leave one biji also. if i change to ciplak one they will keep complaining for better food and then leave it in the bowl. so wasteful. rclxub.gif

Hi anybody want to buy guinea pigs? I have 2 male Abyssinians to sell. reason to sell simply because my mummy piggy just have a set of 5 pups and i can't take care of them all.

PM me for more details and I will conduct a short "interview" because well, I'll be really pissed if you turn out to be a breeder or just someone looking to make fast cash by selling them at a higher price. I'm looking for genuine ppl to care for my piggies. PM me if you're one. Thanks.

My pig loves kangkung the most lol.
I bought it from pet lovers centre. Petsmore also got.
Try to google image "oxbow cavy cuisine". The packaging is red in color.

The price I survey before Plc is the cheapest with member price. Hahaha

From what I know, it is true that too much calcium is harmful to adult GPs.. For baby GPs it's ok cause they are still growing.

Oxbow can buy at Pet lovers centre branches, and oxbow is more expensive than genesis. Based on other forums I've read so far best recommended pellet is oxbow la..

And my Gp loves oxbow, finish it most of the time. I guess I'll stick to Oxbow for now cause his fur and stuff all looks good to me (soft and shiny) plus I feed him veggies everyday

Only problem is he hates alfalfa hay , never touch them. So I have to give him Timothy hay only he will eat.

As for the cream, I found it at PLC also called Natural Pet.

ok i will check oxbow out.

Hi! I bought the C&C wardrobe from Groupon deal for RM118 plus delivery then Just fix it to the size or pattern you want biggrin.gif Yeap that's fleece I wash it once a week no smell oh... I recently bought a litter pan for her. she is litter trained so it really save a lot of the time for picking up poop haha.. only once a while she simply wee2 on the fleece.
*
aiyo so good! i tried to potty train my piggies but failed miserably eventhough it's their favourite spot... maybe cause they keep pee2 and poo2 everywhere in the cage except there. SIGH.... rclxub.gif
