I understand the binary counter would not change AFTER the flash.

Sorry my question might be misleading. blush.gif

Actually i am checking, my current S3 binary counter is 1 since i have rooted it. Do I need to reset it using triangle away BEFORE flashing using Mobile Odin.
*
Icic..if the binary already 1 then had to use Triangle Away since MobileOdin won't reset the counter back to zero :-)
You can use Triangle Away before or after flashing. It doesn't matter since you're using MobileOdin.

just upgraded to latest firmware using mobile odin
around 5minute done
btw, the recovery is it no more already ?
and now going to flash siyah kernel again ~
*
CWM is still there. You have to use it manually by pressing three buttons combo. Only CWM manager app is missing as it comes with CF-root kernel. You can have it back by flashing CF-root kernel.

i see. so if flash new firmware.
we just need to re root only?
*
If you flash using MobilsOdin you didn't lose your root. You'll lose your CWM manager app but not the CWM recovery itself.
You lose CWM manager app as you're using stock kernel after you flashing the stock firmware. If you need the CWM manager then you can flash CF-root kernel.

I think this has been answered before sorry.

Does  Mobile Odin>New Samsung Firmware = wipe?
*
~~huhh..!?~~
MobileOdin got nothing to do with wipe or non-wipe.
It the firmware itself. Some firmware might wipe your phone but mostly it do not wipe. As a precaution..always do backup before flashing :-)

I tried that but the pop up 'No Updates Available' came up sad.gif
*
The updates will be sent to you. No need to check for it.

No probs.. :-))
You can try checking once a day thru your Setting > about phone > software updates but IF after one week still nothing then better update your firmware manually or go to service centre and ask them to help you updating the firmware. It free of charge..

i just noticed CWM manager is not present in my phone :sweat

how to flash it back
*
If you use custom kernel then you'll lose your CWM manager. The app fully functional only in CR-root kernel. For other custom rom you can always enter CWM by using three combo button. (vol up + power button + home button)

For who want OTA update. I think, OTA will check the device status, if modified, then don't give update.
*
Mine stated normal even when my phone rooted. Never try FOTA thou :-P

Try do a factory reset right after you root and Triangle Away your phone. Then your status will be back to normal.
