2 days ago, i go ICT mallpenang, to upgrade my ram...

after asking for d price of corsair 2x4gb 1600, and agreed to upgrade, but ask him to test 1st to show that compatible or not, if not, i dun take it.....he ok with that...

so he open the back cover when open the cover he really kasar, then cracking sound, 1 of the "leg" patah....

he say he will replace 1 new 1 for me~~~

after upgrade the ram, run cpu-z , but the speed is 1333, so, thats mean not compatible....

as our agreement before upgrade the ram, so, take out the 2 pcs corsair ram.....

so, after that we bincang about the replace thenew back cover for me, he say he try to find for me.....then after that, he say if cannot find , then he pay money for me can bo?? i direct say cannot, i dun wan the money, i want new cover....
so, today he call me and asking for my G55 serial number, idun give the number to him yet, then i call penang  asus center clarify about the procedure, then asus penang say is ok to give him the serial number~~

so, now i still no send the serial num to him yet~~
try to ask, who upgrade the corsair 2x4gb 1600 ram, will it run on 1600 speed ???

^ i might need to find one back cover for spare... any idea whr i can get it?

to be honest, to open the back cover is quite tough as there are many legs in the 1st place, I myself also scare one of them will break during my ram adding/changing procedure.

hello,can anybody help me,this is my case,i just got my g55vw(non3d),with gtx660m graphics card,8gb ram,but when i play gta iv , it is already extremely lag in the very begining, i cannot even play for a second because it is extremely lag when it is not suppose to happended coz other g55 user have not experice this kind of problem. what is the problem?or i have something i havent installed yet because when i got my laptop i did not install the additional driver that the laptop provided. please help me, thanks!!!

1) All G55Vw comes with GTX660M 3D or NON 3D...
2) Don't forget to always manual set your power setting to HIGH PERFORMANCE
3) Need to know which games runs on DX10 or DX11 .
4) The G55VW comes with almost everything updated. Only need to PLug n PLay.
even though you buy vpn.. you must know what is the function of a vpn..

1) it's not for letting you download exceeding the quota.. it's for a secure line
2) most vpn does not support DIGI, U Mobile, YES broadband.. MOSTLY Celcom, Maxis, P1 W1max

Nope, warranty according to one of our forumer and a professional since he already did surgery to his very new G55VW is only on the heatsink.

If you're upgrading RAM or changing the 1TB HDD to SSD .. It's on the user accessible slot, no harm.

Different story if you're inserting MSATA (which is very very non user accessible) or extra 2 more slot ram (part time user accessible)

but then i thought vpn is for unlimited badwidth?

Thanks man! one more question tho if I take out the HDD and put SSD instead what is the socket will be Sata 2 or Sata 3?

I mean the present HDD in g55 connected to sata 2 right?
I did some calculation sata 2 has 3Gb/s bandwith that means it's about 375MB/s. Current SSD comes with 550MB read/505MB write(aproximate la) that means removing HDD and setting new SSD won't give too much of a improvement(relative la) if slot is sata 2.
So i'm hoping user available slot is sata 3. is it? or sata 2?

Yeah that's about it. I can't even put a water bottle (500ml mineral water type) after I put my G55 + Adapter. The sides of the zip also enlarged due to constant stretching of the laptop

For my reason why choose G55vw are:

1. G55vw design is more stylish/unique
2. 1 more usb 3.0 port
3. Dual fan intelligent cooling
4. 8 cell battery (but dun hv optimus =-=)
5. Backlit keyboard
7. Free backpack ? o.0
8. Rm100/200 cheaper ? o.0
9. Lot of friends v6 tread here/ROG forum
10. Cannot wait for msi ge60 release (Tangan gatal for play games)

Marketing gimmick?

I have a question. A friend of mine bought Batman Arkham Asylum for me from Australia. Tried installing but my ODD wont read the dame DVD.
Same thing happened to my Diablo 3 too. Why ah?

if you want to upgrade the processor, i have a bad news for you man..our dear beast can support only:

Intel® Core™ i7 3720QM Processor
Intel® Core™ i7 3610QM Processor
Intel® Core™ i5 3210M Processor

higher than the 3720 cannot support..so the rams also no use at 1866mhz because it will work AT 1600mhz only ....3820qm is a no no for the g55

furthermore, 3820 also can support only 1600 and 1333mhz only...you can check at the intel page...3920xm also the same..so no intel processor at the moment can support 1866mhz memory and anyways, both the 3820 and 3920 cannot put in the g55. ..

Thanks for the info, however oddly enough the guys from Xotic PC confirm that they were able to get the 3820QM to run at maximum capacity together with 1866 Mhz RAM. They had even build several those units for their customers. But they did advised that I would need to upgrade my cooling plate.

Besides, these guys know what they are doing though. They even previously helped me to upgrade my G74 processor to 2960XM with 8GB 1866 Mhz RAM before it was stolen.

The information page on Asus is limited to what they sell but they did not list what can be supported or upgraded.
