i thought alot of peeps are having trouble with asus malaysia warranty.. my friend was just trying out the warranty service... (we couldn't find the driver for bluetooth) tried quite alot of drivers.. even from the website. but nothing works.. so he say he want to try asus service center.. since under wrranty.. 2 months bro.. 2 months.. then only get back laptop.. and that is some scratch... (since we didn't know asus had this bad service we didn't have a screen shot to prove) and also everything in the hardisk is formatted... (3 partition.. all gone.. ) this is only 1 part... the other part is... when he come to KL just to fetch his laptop.. they couldn't find it.. really cannot find.. give them 3 hours.. still cannot fin the laptop... then they ask to come later..but my friend insisted that they deliver or post it him..since he is quite bz... next day called asus center.. they say they will post it.. waited 3 days.. still nothing.. called asus center.. now they answer dunno..friend go back to asus center.. took them 1 hour to find that laptop... only to see that (like i said scratch and all partition deleted) really dissapointed with asus.. cannot scold also.. coz both times he went there. always someone scolding asus frontdesk..

only way to get bluray in g55vw IN MALAYSIA is to buy the rm4999 model...malaysia cannot customize..

no, it should run at dual channel...12gb of ram will also run in dual channel..maybe the ram you bought tak ngam with the default ram
asus arranged the ram in a different way:
slot1: nonaccessible slot
slot2: accessible slot
slot3: nonaccessible slot
slot4: accessible slot

..you must have put your ram in the slot 4..so you just need to change the extra rem to the another accessible slot(slot 2)

ok i will try to change the extra 4gb ram to another slot and see how.. i actually asked itking staff to install the ram for me on the spot because i didn't have screwdriver with me in office...

Please research on mSATA. I am planning to change also.
I might be getting one from eBay (mSATA) still considering either getting a full SATA or mSATA

may i noe if i buy a 1333 4gb tam and put it in accessable slot is it run in dual channel? or u think is it btr to put it as single channel coz jb dont have 1600 ram now

Dual channel means the transfer speed between the RAM and memory controller(bandwidth) is doubled. It is to prevent bottlenecking due to the inability of the memory controller to keep up.

Also i found out that for our G55 slots 1 and 4 are a pair. Slots 2 and 3 are another pair.

Someone help me to post this in the front. Pls do check the accuracy of what i typed.

WARRANTY IS NOT VOIDED UNLESS YOU REMOVE THE WARRANTY VOID STICKER...

where is this sticker located? its on the heatsink screw covering the cpu and vga.. other than that, you are free to dismantle the whole machine as you like..

that said, make sure you can fix it back !!. dun dismantle anything you cant put back together.. cos although you can bring it back to ASUS service centre to get it done, my guess is your machnie serial number will be flagged.. meaning if in the future if anything goes wrong, they might turn around and say you did it on purpose..

so if you really wan to maximise your ram :
1. please do so carefully ( i use a video camera to record how i dismantle so that i will know how to assemble it back )
2. go to asus service centre to get it done.

i dismantled this myself because, i used to work in a laptop service centre.. and i have always repaired all of my laptops by myself.. i juz purchase the parts outside..
