it says FHD, and it is indeed, crazy price at 2848:

Model: Lenovo Y580 Full HD Ivy Bridge i7 Gamer Laptop
Model Number:5934-5124
Interface:3 x USB 3, mini-PCIe, 6-in 1 card reader,mic, headphone, HDMI, RJ45, 1 x USB/eSATA Combo,

Limited to 10 Unit Only
*
Really comes with 1x USB/eSATA combo? I checked with Lenovo Malaysia they said our local models won't have eSATA. Only USBs. Also some sources quote Y580 only have 2x USB3.0 and 2x USB2.0 (using HM76, this chipset only supports 2x USB3.0). But our models (at least mine) have 3x USB3.0 and 1x USB2.0.

These discrepancies seem a little weird. Does it mean we have HM77 chipset?

Will the FHD screen be good for gaming? Since the frame rate will drop right? But we can always change the resolution right?
*
You could but the pitch will not be 1:1 so images may be slightly blur (since you reduce the resolution and the display stretch back to fill up the screen). If you're referring to the GTX 660M (even GT 650 GDDR5), it is capable of powering FHD resolutions without any difficulty. On the most modern games, frame rates might drop but it will still be playable. If you're very concern on frame rates you may reduce the in-game performance settings a little. If you definitely must have all-max settings and good frame rates, then the lower resolution display lor biggrin.gif

y480 or y580 ...i cant decide,giv some suggestion cry.gif  cry.gif

For me, the 1080p display (along with the real estate space for work) is a must have. Do I went for the 15.6". At first the Y580 looked really bulky. Then I found a nice backpack for it (Targus) and the weight 'disappeared'. Just get a good quality bag, it really helps.

hi, can let me know the targus model? price? might want it for my y480...  smile.gif
*
Its Targus EcoSmart series. I got the 15.6" backpack. Padding is good and best of all it is capable of loading two laptops (not to do it, but good to know). There are sufficient pockets but not as elaborate as other brands such as Samsonite. Samsonite is a little boxy to my liking though. I've been using it a lot lately, the back cushion is good and provide very good support.

hi dai kors... wanna ask ar.. if change/upgrade hdd will void warranty ar? even if it is done by d seller?
*
Take it this way. Assuming you know how to clone all the partitions and migrate to the new HDD/SSD and know how to physically install HDD, just keep the original HDD. Anything wrong, just pop it back in and all is good.

its worth RM500 for 15.6" and 1080p? and also come with window...y480 no window,if get y580 i can get the window 8 offer rclxm9.gif
*
Yup, its well worth it in my opinion. Of course, some may calculate the RM500 differently. They may not want the Bluray drive, have a spare RAM lying around, etc. The RM500 can be squeeze for other upgrades. For me, the FHD screen cannot be upgraded by myself lol... so might as well take it.

thanks, what about the price?
*
I got mine for RM300 or less. Just try any of Lowyat Plaza Level 3 shops (Viewnet or All IT). If not mistaken, I believe there is one selling around RM250 here in Garage Sales. Just do a search.

Yup the temperature is pretty good. 1 hour into MW3, CPU (i7) at 70-72 Deg C and GPU (GTX660M) at 68-70 Deg C. No cooler underneath. Ambient temperature 20-24 Deg C.

any news of Y580 with i7-3630QM? i heard it'll be available after raya promotion? but no mention of when raya promotion ends...

btw is it even worth to wait for it? 100mhz difference...
*
If you need it now, get it now biggrin.gif

For me I wouldn't be bothered since we're talking same functionality and TDP. FYI, Intel haven't even listed this part on their website.

hi guys, what's the difference buying Corsair Vengeance 4GB DDR3 as a single stick, or in pair?

If i buy a single stick now, and next time buy another stick, will they operate in dual-channel mode even though they don't come in pair?
*
If you see the specifications all the same, maybe its just a packaging. Say if you buy in a pair, its slightly cheaper than getting individual on its own. Some companies will go the distance to say that they had been hand picked to work together. Well its up to you to believe. In my experience, I have been mixing RAMs different size, different timings, different speed, etc. Safe to say that if you get back the same stick, no reason why it won't work.
