Folks,

I took my key yesterday evening and had  a looooong chat with the main-con who is stationed there.

This is what I found out:

1. The rainwater havesting system is actually crappy and totally a waste of time.

It supplies rainwater to the maidroom WC, Ground floor Guest room WC, Garbage box tap and outdoor garden tap. However, the eco efficiency is very minimal. Its only about RM10/15 ringgit savings but this excludes the power to run the pump so actually, its no big difference in cost savings.

HOWEVER, the good news is that he has recommended that you:

1. Ditch the whole system and use the expensive and powerful 1HP Australian Brand Pump  (it cost 4K!) supplied for your upstairs main tank instead.

Voila! No need to buy Grunfos or Ebara pump!

2. Relocate the water filter to the front water main and voila! No need to buy an extra water filter for the whole house!

With slight modification on your pipes, all the the WC which is dependent on the RWHS can be re- routed.

So I have just saved you at least 5.5k  thumbup.gif

Hi, I am another owner of FernLane. I too looking at relocating the pump and filter. Let me know if you managed to relocate and how much did it cost you.

Currently sourcing for renovation quotes. Lots of persistent contractor appear each time I visit my place.

Looking for alarm system and CCTV. Any recommendation?

Unfortunately, I haven't managed to get any traction on anything yet as due to work travel. I bet Desmond from territory construction approached you as well? I would recommend trhat you get the main con to do the piping as they have all the house drawings and plans.
*
Actually no, but I did see his signage at one of the houses, maybe 71 or 72. I get persistent abuse from stilux, yi seng and kb.

hmm... he is doing a job next to my house. No comment whistling.gif , but I will try to seek external contractor until no hope, then go to him.

huh?  sorry, do you mean he has no idea how to relocate the pipes, pump, and the filter?  Most external contractors that I spoke to either has no idea how the harvesting system works hence no idea how to do the relocation; or there is one who sounds like they know but charging >3K to do that..

Sorry, your "  whistling.gif  " is about his common renovation work, or his pipes relocation work?
*
No no, he definitely knows how to do it, but he never quoted me before. I am referring to his renovation work. I will need to check with some contractors and see if they know how to do it.

Holy Crap...

Which phase is your unit mate?

Fern Lane. U16/70. I believe someone else in the forum had the same theft issue. Should this be reported? Since the my house keys are still with the main contractor.

I think this should be reported.

First to Sime Darby
Second to DARA
Third to Police (Nothing will happen but just to follow the books)

Are you in the LYN Owners & Residents list mate?
*
Thanks, will do that soon. How do I contact DARA? Sorry, what is LYN? icon_question.gif
I am an owner of the unit and planning to reside there. I don't think I am in the resident list.

LYN = Lowyat.net

What I meant is are you in this thread's Owner's & Residents List on the front page. Shall add you onto it in a bit.

Well...we are all owners here too mate  tongue.gif and fear not we will all help each other surely.

You can contact DARA via their Facebook page, here's the link Denai Alam Residents Association

Alternatively, drop them a mail at dara.sa@groups.facebook.com

Guys, might I suggest we all have a meet-up say this Sunday at Fern Lane? I think we have about 10 of us here and I would welcome the other phases guys to join in as well. Would be good to get to know the community and work set a good foundation for future initiatives and ties.
*
Thanks mate for all the info. The meet up is a good idea! thumbup.gif

I had that same problem too. All of my bathroom fittings were stolen. I have lodged a complaint to Sime Darby about the matter. Till date I have yet to get a response from them.
*
Additional cost for us to get it fix and I doubt SD will do anything about it.

No force entry, only other ppl who has my keys are the main con workers. Foot print in the toilet indicates boots. (Wah CSI!).

I will just have to make a police report soon and try to quickly get my renovation started.

Some resident from the previous phases (jalan 81/83/84/86/87/88) and orthers are gathering this Saturday 16/2/13 @ Surau Al-Abrar (near Astonia/Delenia) at 9 A.M for security setup discussion in DA. Security personel from SD En Hasyidan will also be there from what I heard. They have send out invitation letter (in PDF) and update in Denai Alam closed group in FB. Gathering will be held outside the prayer hall so non-muslim are all welcome. They invited future owners too.

So I guess its better to join them and take this matter as a whole. If we cant contribute much for now, at least a healthy discussion and experience sharing would be something fruitful. Planning to join them this Saturday morning, since I normally take my weekend jog in DA.  biggrin.gif

This sounds interesting. At least we are able to know what security measures that can be utilised for FL in the future. Hoping to see FL to have perimeter fencing. Anyone else planning to go?

Actually, I have thinking about this security for some time already. At the rate of break ins and robbery and harming occupants, I need to have a piece of mind when staying in FL especially for my family. I am very very worried.

Xai, I suggest all the FL owners meet up and seriously discuss the security issue.

This is no longer an option but a necessity.
*
100% agree with you on this. I see some houses in my lane have installed ADT but we should get together and firm up with SD about security patrol and fencing. FL owners face a unique problem whereby our road access is also shared by another development phase.

At least lets get the ball rolling while waiting for other residents to start shifting in. Also these discussion should be done in Facebook group?

CobraGuy,

I don't think that will be an issue. As long you are living in FernLane you are welcomed. Go ahead and click on the FB group link. The admin will approve you.

The rest of FL owners, we kindda started the discussion about security. Please do join the FB group and place your comment.

Howdy neighbour. Welcome to the club. I figure most of the unoccupied units in Fern Lane has got the fittings stolen. Are you in the FB group yet?
