QUOTE(WildChai @ Apr 3 2006, 12:05 PM) rotary tools....hmmm...can attach those bits and cutting wheels to a normal power drill? use it sideways like a rotary. got good power. QUOTE(ckyee88 @ Apr 3 2006, 01:22 PM) QUOTE(ckyee88 @ Apr 3 2006, 05:47 PM) QUOTE(ckyee88 @ Apr 4 2006, 01:32 PM) if can attach the tool kit of rotary tools to normal drill must can be save many money...............haha Evry tool has it's own special use. Rotary tools' kits & accessories are nvr meant to be used w/ power drill. And in some cases u might injure urself (severely) by misusing power tools. Besides safety issue, the cut-off wheels are quite fragile (specially the standard types). So gotta be careful when cutting process. In conclusion, the best is u ppl get a cheapest rotary tool & xperience evrythin' urself. |

Ok...here's my little review for you guys. lets start off with some nice pictures.
(click thumbnail for larger picture) ![]() the box ![]() the rotary tool ![]() accessories that came with the box ![]() the dremel ready to rock here is what included in the box: 1 rotary tool with ac-dc adapter 1 cutting wheels 4 piece of grindstones 5 drill bits (inside the small tube) 5 pirce of brass collets (used to hold the different size bits) this kit is totally above my expectations. i didnt expect that the kit will come with any accessories at all. the tool feels like cheap plastic when i hold it the first time (but hey, you cant comment on that for the price you pay Pros: ~ comes with a lot of accessories for you to get started. ~ its cheap thus affordable...good for first timer to practice. ~ have a button to hold the dremel head in place when you want to attach the bits. ~ did i mention that it works!!!! Cons: ~ no manual. ~ no speed control. ~ come with only one cutting wheels ~ feels like cheap plastic. overall... i recomend this product to those who are first time user. since it is cheap, you can buy this tool and practice before moving to RTX or the real Dremel. the accessories that came with the kit should get you started with a few case mods and maybe some side panel too.....hehehe ok thanks for reading This post has been edited by Shah81: Apr 5 2006, 11:50 PM |

Hehe...1st of all nice~ 2 hear dat it arrived safely. 2nd, happy that u r njoyin' it
Bout the drill bits, there should be 5 pcs total. The other 2 are vry fine, so guess I x nmpk 1 thing I myself don like bout this Ultimax is that there's no manual. All items (specially power tools) should act incl a manual. However Pro's Kit do include And yups, I too personally recommend this Ultimax brand for starters or those who'll just use once/twice |

For a electronics mod guy the speed controller is very simple oni. It's just a rheostat. I got so many high current mechanical speed controls in my Tamiya section of the storeroom. kekekekek.Actually that wud b a really good "How to" mod for the benefit of the others here who wanna mod the cheap rotary tools. Shah? U wanna do us all a favor? This post has been edited by ianho: Apr 6 2006, 06:14 PM |

I got so many high current mechanical speed controls in my Tamiya section of the storeroom. kekekekek. actually there's an easier way to mod this dremel without voiding your warranty. the adaptor spec for this dremell is 12v @ 0.8A. so go buy a multi-voltage adapter with at least 1A and stick that to the dremel. now choose different voltage for different speed...12V, 9V, 7V etc. just dont try any higher than 12V....the motor might burn-out. Actually that wud b a really good "How to" mod for the benefit of the others here who wanna mod the cheap rotary tools. Shah? U wanna do us all a favor? note: becareful with those cheap adaptor because the voltage output is usually way off. recheck with a multimeter to be sure. u might be feeding 15V when you set 12V at the adaptor |

Well, since the B&D RTX is at 2A and max 30000rpm. Will the the lower power do any damage to the tool? |

QUOTE(WildChai @ Apr 7 2006, 12:33 AM) excellent idea! dont have any idea how fast the ultimax is spinning. but the motors that run at lower voltage will sometimes tend to consume more current than at its rated voltage. so thats why i suggest an adaptor with at least 1A or else you might burn the adaptor.with the ultimax plugged in at 12v@0.8A....how fast u think it is? 15000rpm? Well, since the B&D RTX is at 2A and max 30000rpm. Will the the lower power do any damage to the tool? no harm will be done. its like undervolting your case fan. |
