Clutch is always more efficient than torque converter, I do wonder do all clutch-based CVT jerk like Saga's?
*
It's common for clutch-based CVT to jerk like this, sorta like half-clutching so to speak, the previous City can be induced to jerk like that too although somehow it's a little more refined.

BTW, was wondering if anyone knows the wheel specs of the stock 15" FLX SE wheels? Stuff like rim width, stock offset, and also center bore size?

Probably taking delivery of a FLX SE in a week or two's time, first things to go are the leather seats(was hoping it's possible to swap with another FLX Executive buyer before taking delivery of the car) and also the clear tail lamps. Next up would be replacing some better tyres and possible one of 15" wheel sets from my "wheel whore" collection laugh.gif

Need some quotation here, how much does a light bulb of a Saga FL cost?
I am referring to the front bulb (for big light ) Is it recommended to bring it to Proton SC to fix the bulb or can DIY? I am worry if DIY the light shine too high or senget ><

Please advise.
Thank you.
*
Depends on you're looking for standard replacement or upgraded bulbs. If your model is the twin bulb type, then the bulb type is H7, if you're is the old single bulb model, then the bulb type is H4. Shouldn't be too hard to change just the bulbs, and it wouldn't make any effect on the light shine at all if you're just changing the bulb, unless you're talking about trying to level the lights yourself.

Changing the light bulb is just removing a fixed position bulb and replacing it.

Hi GRexer,

I think mine have twin bulb type, not sure what you mean by twin bulb but I can see in the headlight there are 2 in total, one is middle and the other one is at the outer side. For my case after checking, the outer light bulb (shine bigger light) not functioning at all d.

I am going on a one day trip n might need to travel at night so was thinking where can I buy the light bulb and maybe fix it on my own. Is there any specific name for Saga FL light? so that when I go to shop those mechanic wont "parang" me >< Btw how much does it cost for one light bulb as you mentioned,H7 and H4 respectively.

Many thanks
*
Didn't notice you said that you're driving a Saga FL, if it's a FL, then it's using the H7 bulb. Not sure where are you located so it's a little hard to recommend. My usual parts shop is PH Auto in Taman SEA/Paramount close to SS2, just drop in and tell them you want H7 bulb, as I have never bought H7 bulbs before, I'm really not sure about the pricing, but typically this shop I go to have a decent price and doesn't "parang" people. Only thing is you have to be patient for your turn to be served as they are always busy. Try to stick with decent brands like Philips, GE, Bosch or Osram as they have tighter built tolerance and usually takes a while before they blow.

Shouldn't cost more than RM100/pair if not going for high performance ones. I usually stick with Philips Premium as they don't cost too much more than standard bulbs(despite being of +30% brightness rating) and it's sold in per piece and per pair.

DOnt really get what you mean...

did you say tat you dont want that leather seats and also the clear tail lamps?
*
Yes, those "leather" seats have to go, not a fan of leather seats especially in Malaysian weather. Clear tail lamps, well, that's optional but they don't go so well if you were to choose the red/maroon colour.

He want to exchange his leather seats with normal fabric seats, preferrably with another new FLX EXEC. He's also an anti bling-bling, wanted to exchange his smoked tail lamp with another FLX EXEC nod.gif First time in my life hearing this kind of request thumbup.gif
*
Well.. I suppose that's the first time anyone posted on the forum about it, but it had been done before especially the leather seats part. One man's meat can be another man's poison. wink.gif Personally, the smoke tail lamps just look odd on the red/maroon FLX SE, it's ok with the white though. icon_rolleyes.gif

Well, since it's a new car, I would prefer to exchange with a new car also sweat.gif Obviously, some top up would be involved, was discussing with my SA that RM1k top up from the FLX Exec owner, now wondering if I offered too low. doh.gif

laugh.gif Not like I'm some car critique, seriously, I need to compare the stock tail lamps and also the smoked tail lamps on the maroon body to get a second opinion. Tail lamps isn't a priority to go, the seats definitely are, leather is Malaysian weather is really sweat.gif

I think the hybrid rear brake had been used on a couple of cars. Those Skylines featuring 4-pot front brakes and 2-pot rear brakes have the disc brakes for braking function, and a inner drum brake+hub to serve as the handbrake. Mitsubishi Evolutions that comes with standard Brembo(4-pot front and 2-pot rear) also have this hybrid setup.

Not sure what other cars feature it but it's not that uncommon especially for multi-pot brakes.

On a side note, I actually think the 2.0P has a very good feature set over the 2.0E, the leather seats in the 2.0P are the real stuff, not the erm.. "leather" seats in the 1.6 FLX SE. sweat.gif

Was wondering if anyone knows if the "Fire Red' for FLX SE have paint issues like the one on the Prevé? Seems like the ones on the Prevé is discontinued due to paint issues and I'm still waiting for a Fire Red FLX SE. unsure.gif

I'm also not exactly sure why is Fire Red being discontinued for the Prevé, supposedly, due to paint issues.

Well, actually, yes, it's recommended to wax the car ASAP, before contaminations start to build up, but it's still recommended to at least clay it first to remove any bonded contaminants(if any).

Ah, alrighty, noted. I've got a few recommendations from friends for a dude who does detailing in SG. The problem is, this would be his first Saga if I ever decide to send it there.  doh.gif
He usually deals with horses and bulls, if you know what I mean  rclxub.gif
*
I don't think it's a problem, if he charges accordingly, if he can get people with horses and bulls to send him their cars, he probably does a pretty decent job. thumbup.gif

QUOTE(dares @ Jun 29 2012, 09:04 PM)
So far I haven't heard any complains or issues. I'm not even sure the Saga's Fire Red is the same paint as the Preve's Fire Red.
*
Not really sure if it's the same shade as Preve's as I never really had the chance for a side by side comparison, but a side by side with the Inspira's red(not sure what red), it seems a different shade.

Looks like I'll need to wait another 2 weeks or so. I still came up with the same conclusion that comfort level is not much of a difference between the 1.3 and 1.6 after a second longer test drive though, somehow, I felt the rebound isn't exactly enough on the rear for the 1.6, makes it a little "floaty" over certain bumps, too wallowing if you know what I meant, somehow felt the dampers weren't damped as good as the 1.3 ones. This is for the rear only.

[edit]
Trying HARD not to be a basher, but, handling wise, the Saga IS definitely leaps and bounds over the MyVI, coming from a guy who have at least 5 MyVIs(albeit from the older generation) in the immediate family, then again, back then, there was no ABS for Saga.

QUOTE(dares @ Jun 29 2012, 09:22 PM)
So how to you rate the overall package of the 1.6? worth the 50k I'm paying for it?
*
That's kinda the problem, I'm not exactly sure if the 1.6 I drove had faulty rear absorbers, since comparing both test cars, the 1.6 had triple the mileage of the 1.3! I have never rode a bone stock, non-test driven 1.6 so I can't comment, I did choose a test route I'm familiar with so I know what to expect from each undulations based upon my daily driver's feedback. I'm not really sure what caused it, maybe the Silverstone tyres? It's impossible to expect a thicker sidewalled tyre to perform better than a lower profiled tyre, but since it's both different compounds, it's a little hard to compare.

Well.. If this would be an indication, I took far too long to decide between the 1.3 and 1.6 even though the difference was close to RM7k(as of the RM2k discount promotion that ended today), and I decided to finally switch to the 1.6 even after the salesman had logged down details for the 1.3!

QUOTE(MR_alien @ Jun 29 2012, 09:37 PM)
maybe is becuz its metallic paint?
solid paint gone metallic in proton doesn't usually last long
the pearl white previously in persona also only last 1st batch if not wrong
*
This I ain't too sure, what I heard was that Tanjung Malim factory and Hicom couldn't come up with matching colours, kinda silly reason if you ask me.

Yeah I think so too. Just now went to buy dinner, saw the red preve, and parked next to it. Both were under a streetlamp, and I don't know whether it was because of the lines of the car, but I did feel that the colour was a little different. Dunno la, maybe my eyes playing tricks on me.. sweat.gif

Hm.. Even under Sun, different angles will come with different shades for certain colours.

So lucky, red preve dem rare you know  whistling.gif

Last Preve TT, out of 30 odd cars there was like what? 2-3 red Preves? Other than that, I only ever saw 1 red Preve OTR.
*
I think the "rarer" Preve, for me, is the Elegant Brown ones, never seen any OTR! Only in pictures, but personally don't think it's nice, but it was not a very nicely taken picture anyway, Elegant Brown seemed a nice colour for the Saga though, it was either Elegant Brown or Blue Rock if I had chosen the Saga 1.3 instead.

QUOTE(vinesh22 @ Jun 29 2012, 10:54 PM)
LOL, the JB showroom we got the car from was full of new red and blue ones, probably waiting for the owners or something, because they didn't have plates on. Even when I went to check it out a few months back the day after the launch, the SA was saying that the red and blue would be the fastest off the shelf compared to the rest of the colours as most people prefer white/black etc
*
Hm.. Well, somehow, it turns out White and Silver are the popular colours for Preve, I personally, dislike the blue. rolleyes.gif

Malaysia's RoadTax is quite flawed in that up to 1600cc(exact measurements, so even if your 1.6 litre car is 1605cc, you pay a lot extra), it's a maximum rate of RM90. It's presumably by whoever set the rules that, if you could afford a car more than 1600c, you can afford to pay higher road tax. doh.gif

A lot of "super mini(s)" recently especially from the European crowd anyway, everyone is going for smaller capacity engines and boosting it for efficiency. Even BMW also started using the smaller 1.6 engines in their 1-series in the form of the Prince(Mini Cooper S) engine. Peugeot also using 1.6 turbo even in their 408. Tides of change I suppose.
