I wanted to ask about this. In this pic, the Alienware logo is supposed to be in purple color as reflected on the keyboard, but the color produced is nearly white. Why?

Most likely the Logo is being over-exposed. In taking this photo, the light sensor detected the central 'region', as compared to the 'spot' or spot metering technique. So since most part of the picture looked dark, the camera will exposed longer. That makes the logo being over exposed.

Same thing will happen if you snap a picture of the Moon.

personally i prefer the nokia original case, i had a similar ROCK case for my HTC ONE X and I don't like the material, it feels like thick compressed cardboard, semi-hard, scratched my one x some more because it's very tight, don't know for pureview. the other problem is that there is no lens cap for this case, since that part bulges out, it can easily get scratched and you don't want your 41MP lens to get scratched rite brows.gif
*
The trouble is the original lens cap can get loose after prolonged multiple use I suspect. Its a clip on, I would prefer some other mechanism to fix the cap though. eg. magnetic clip or something like that.

Another big problem for the original phone cover is the cap actually covers the speaker ! So to listen to the phone properly, you will need to uncap the lens cover ! I would prefer the speaker to be exposed all the time.

RM1799 is really a bargain. Everyone who opt to buy a Panasonic LX5 or something similar should grab this phone in this price.

Try nokia at Digimall sec 14, PJ. Note that there are two nokia shops in it. One of them 'stock hasn't arrived'. Only another one has it. .. hopefully.

Last night I tried to find out how good is the really low light snapping:

Here's what our human eye see in the room, taken with pureview mode, 8MP, ISO 800, -0.7 exposure compensation, rested the phone on the pillow only:

Then I set it to exposure compensation at -4.0, here's what it appeared:

It was amazing to say the least. The focus was on the kid's face, so the LED flash appeared for the focusing. Making this a perfect shot. Even the auto white balance does it job, as the background lighting was really dim.

Is there any mobile audio lover care to comment on the audio quality (via headphone of course, not the speaker) vs other better mobile devices, either handphone or non-handphone?

Thanks.

Hardly any comparison in this area.

ps: Discovered last night, read from other website. Pureview alarm can be set, then the handphone be turned off (totally off, not the standby mode). When the time comes, the phone can turn itself ON, and buzzle the alarm. It will then ask you whether you want to remain to be off or to be turned on.

So you can actually turn the phone off without disturbance over night, but the alarm still work the next day !

Good accessories. The stock casing is quite difficult to use the camera trigger button. And not the mentioned the muffled speaker.

Nokia Map lacks localized Point Of Interests like malsing. If I remember malsing uses free service of the community.
What I usually do, if Nokia Map does not find a place, is to check the destination I want to go with google map and then mark the place on Nokia Map.

Also, soon we will have another competition from Apple. Apple going to ditch Google Map on iOS in favour of their own mapping solution. But I don't think anyone can fight the king of search ie Google.

Added on July 25, 2012, 6:54 pmAbout playing HD movies. I have tried the 808 DLNA which you can stream contents to any DLNA-enabled TVs and other devices. It is a very nice feature where I can show pictures taken with Pureview, play music and videos. But I notice when playing videos that I recorded, there is shuttering. But when playing music videos I downloaded from YouTube, they work fine. Anyone know is this because of bit rate of the videos I recorded?
*
I did try that features also. Experienced some stuttering effect just like you. But I haven't tried the youtube files. Do you think it could be due to higher resolution, and hence bigger file transfer for your home video instead of the FLV youtube files?

Maybe its good to try downloading full HD youtube file for comparison.

I also tried to use a RM39 Mini HDMI to HDMI cable for 'direct TV display'. It showed red ghost line all over, very poor quality images. Have anyone of you tried that feature?

I suspect is the al-cheapo HDMI cable which is at fault.

no, the color just came off for no apparent reason!

again i left it overnight without putting it in pocket or touching that part, and lost another 5% of the coating overnight! so now it left 2mm of that black coating. i try to get a camera to snap it.

i may sound like joking but i'm not. but now silver looked rather nice, matching the silver metal part of the micro USB connector lol...
nope i'm talking about the actual photo. most of the time it's pretty accurate, just not under room lighting. i think it has something to do with high ISO performance which contribute the coolness of the color temperature. not the color banding thingy though, i do not notice any corner showing big patch of blue/purple/etc colors.
UPDATE: ok got an olympus camera to do the job:

Damian Dining do tweek and answer question about pureview faults and features. Do post him this question with samples photos, you will be surprise that he actually answer your question. Who knows he may put solution in the future firmware updates.
