You can always check if they are legit just by right clicking on the link and copying the link. Paste it in your browser(don't hit enter) or in notepad to be safe. If it isn't the blizzard website it's fake.

try hovering your mouse to the link, at the bottom left it will show you the website URL.
if its has (.tk, weird WoW spelling) then its fake.

Learn to read domain name is the safest way to avoid any phishing site

Battle net official domain is battle.net, http://<anything>.battle.net/ is legit
Other than that it is FAKE

http://us.battle.net.login.wow-us.pandar.wowbeta.com
obviously this is fake

So do http://www.maybank2u.update.profile.<whatever>.<bla bla bla>.com
Official domain of M2U is maybank2u.com.my
Other than that it is FAKE

Even though your clicked on the phishing site link, it doesn't do anything unless you filled up and submit their forms with your credentials.

Safest way is to like what Shafara said, try hovering your mouse to the link, at the bottom left it will show you the website URL

well, after the whole shabang in 2010 when hubby's acc got hacked because he clicked on something via this sort of invite, we just stayed away from any invitations or alert and if there is really something on, we would just go to battle.net page itself (manually) and see what the commotion is all about.. either way with MoP coming out real soon like in just 13 days.. all the invites not worth the trouble because it's quite a hassle if your account has been hacked and furthermore if they already stripped your toons off their stuff and cleaned out any accessible bank vault, your guildies will have a hard time retrusting you even tho they trust you and known you for years
