Bro, do you mean that for a landed property, the only equipment that the customer can "touch and see" is the superduper crappy Thomson router? So even if we replace this Thomson router with a router like the Asus RT-N13U-B1, the Asus router won't work because we have no modem to mess around with?

Why did the "sharing is caring" stop once we knew how to use another device to use VoIP? Is this information now available to the elitists only? ;-)
