by changing the Thomson router to TP Link modem router as mentioned on first post, will it solve any VPN pass through issue?

atm, using maxis thomson router i can't connect to my office network through VPN, when I have no problem on streamyx before this

need confirmation before getting a TP link modem router

thank you

if you are on private IP, nothing will change after u switch your router.

so it will work if I'm already using maxis public ip right?

any idea why VPN doesn't work on the thomson router?

when u r on private IP, you are behind another 'wall' of Maxis FTTH, outsider will not be able to ping you or 'contact' you directly... simple enuf?
*
yeah simple...

anyway i am already on public IP, and the VPN connection still fail.

1. so I would like to know why does it fail on maxis (thomson) and works on Streamyx (dlink)?

2. and changing the thomson router to TP link will work (using public ip)?

Thank you again

have you set Port forwarding correctly on the thompson? Most likely you have set port fwd for ur VPN on the dlink but not on the thompson
no port forward on the dlink router, but checking on the specification of the dlink router, it does allow VPN passthrough. no idea if this is available on the thomson router.

But still, not sure if this is the reason that causes the VPN connectivity failure.

I already tried port forwarding for PPTP, L2TP, port 50 & 51

numbertwo,

what type of VPN you are using?
i think mine is IPSec (ESP)

brother, your 1st post guide not work for me. got error message.

but i just switch off the thomson router, and attach my tp-link router, it work. just can't use the voip phone.
*
if the error is while saving the setting after untick-ing the vlan tagging and port binding for port2, you will need to delete the vlan621 first and add it manually but this time, only choose port binding for port3

Which VPN Client are you using for your office ?

Added on July 10, 2012, 12:20 amWhich model of BTU is TM providing for Maxis Home Fibre subscribers (VDSL2) ?
*
what do you mean by VPN client, can you give an example?

anyway, the VPN software is internal software. so can't exactly tell what VPN client

i checked from the system log, these terms are there IPSec, ESP, SHA1, DES3

lol hope information makes sense
