I remember one of the early subsriber , lyn member 'aricat' has the access to the Huawei EPON...I got his instruction in PM previously but I have somehow erased that off... So, perhaps someone could ping aricat and ask for help.

Sadly nothing can be done even if you manage to access the ONT, because the ONT is controlled centrally by their system, and I think they have a scheduled 'push' of instructions to your huawei ONT each day, so all changes you've done will be reset. And furthermore, you can never set to change your ONT having a public IP. Dealing with the ONT is something new, which needs qualified personnel to deal with it's settings, but if you're feeling adventurous, there is a device document available in Chinese :-

RTFM and you shall find out the use of the USB port on the side of the Thomson Gateway
*
After RTFM, I concluded that the most useful feature of this USB port is to hook up a good USB Fan and start spinning lol ... thumbup.gif

so it will work if I'm already using maxis public ip right?

any idea why VPN doesn't work on the thomson router?
*
when u r on private IP, you are behind another 'wall' of Maxis FTTH, outsider will not be able to ping you or 'contact' you directly... simple enuf?

our area has only Maxis, so you could be right we might be on maxis own fiber network..

Perhaps the dining area is just right below the router and the signal is below 50% ??
*
yup you can say the dining is just below the cabinet, consider a concrete slap in between plus the staircase is position at the side of the house (not right in the middle), I would say the signal is just good enuf to stay online downstairs..

nevertheless, most of my online media downstairs are on cat5e to the HP proserve giga switch... so I don't really bother much about wifi signal downstairs...
