Hhmm. Guys. I'd like to confirm 1 thing on this.

1) Maxis uses 2 diff Vlan ID for HSI
Those using TM Modem (Vlan Tag is 621)
Those using Modem provided by Maxis (Vlan Tag is 11) [The following setting is based on this]

Please refer to Attachment. This is a Thomson Config file i've downloaded for backup.
Attached Image

Also I'd like to share my experience using TPLink 1043ND router with Huawei Echolife HG8240 & Thomson (mainly for VoIP)

All Vlan Tagging are done on the TPlink router hence there is no need to configure the Echolife HG8240. *I'd like to point out that not everyone is done in this manner, hence please check before following the guide.

This is how my wiring setup

This is how i've configure the Switch & Vlan Tagging Setting (Under Network --> Switch)

for those that have done this Reverting back to old Bootloader as this fix the WAN port issue. You can use ur WAN port instead of port 4 then the VLan ID tagging should be as follows.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

then save & apply

This is the WAN Setting (Under Network -- > Interface --> WAN)
Attached Image
Change the setting to VLAN Interface eth0.11

then save & apply

Then under General Setup (Under Network -- > Interface --> WAN)
Change protocol to PPPOE
enter username xxxxx@home.maxis.com.my or xxxxx@public.maxis.com.my
password is usually the xxxxx1 (where xxxxx represents the 5 digit before @home.maxis)

Save & apply..

You are done smile.gif

Edited.

To get the WAN port to work.. you can follow this guide smile.gif

Bro,
Thanks for sharing your detailed explanation. This is really helpful. By the way, why you want to connect your modem to the router port 5 instead of port 1 which is the WAN port?
*
This is because the new bootloader which TP-Link 1043ND builtin for Hardware Version 1.8 (some) & 1.9 which disable the WAN port, due to a bug. However you can still use the WAN port for other brand or model provided the other brand don't use the similar method

bro benlye, YOU ARE THE MAN! I can't thank you enough for finding out the vlan ID (11) which is being use on Huawei HG8240!  notworthy.gif  I couldn't get it to work with Tomato on my Asus N16 but stock firmware works fine! Enter the vlan id and you are good to go, cool!  rclxm9.gif
*
wiind, no prob smile.gif, glad to share my experience.

Some of these settings are also done with the help from Tanghm, as I've bounce couple of ideas with him and he helped me in a few areas.

Yup ... is totally find if you found other routers which support Vlan tagging by default, then you don't need to use custom firmware. smile.gif

Actually regardless whether it's 1.8 or 1.9, you can still use it. Living proof here. Will post up a tutorial with sreenshots and files when I get the time. Hopefully this weekend.

Great : ) mine is running on Hardware version 1.9.. I don't mind giving it a try

thanks again to both of you then  rclxms.gif btw, how did you managed to pull out the vlan information from the Thomson router, mind to share?
*
1) you need to figure out the Admin login for the Thomson router.

Username : Administrator (*take note it is case sensitive. make sure it is capital A)
Password : <access key> at the back of your router label.

2) Then login using the Administrator account
3) On the Thomson Gateway menu, click Configuration.
4) In the Pick a task list, click Save or Restore Configuration.
5) Under Backup current configuration, click Backup Configuration Now.
6) The Thomson Gateway prompts you to save your backup file.
7) Save your file to a location of your choice.
8) use text editor to open the file.

So just want to update you all that another confirmed TP link TLWR1043 user here who has gotten it working with openwrt  rclxm9.gif

For the longest time i was stuck trying to figure out what was wrong with my openwrt config.  But thanks to jssc who confirmed that it can work, I persevered.  notworthy.gif

The issue in my case was somehow the Telephony configuration in the Thomson was messed up.  I ended up deleting it and adding it back again and it now works.  Previously, the "Registered" field showed an X.

Just FYI, settings for Telephony on Thomson is:
SIP URI: <your Maxis VOIP number, e.g 03xxxxxxx>
username: <your Maxis VOIP number, e.g 03xxxxxxx>
password: <your Maxis VOIP number, e.g 03xxxxxxx1> (notice the extra 1 digit)
*
To get your WAN working you need to do the following.. http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=2481658 however I would advise to read and understand it before actually doing it coz if done wrongly it will brick ur router.

Thanks for your info.  Maybe I didn't make it clear, but I managed to get it working smile.gif That was after a long period of troubleshooting  rclxub.gif

I originally thought that there was something wrong with the VLAN settings that i had on the TP-Link WR1043 (openwrt).  Turns out the settings were fine.  It was the VOIP settings in the Thomson router.  So this is just to let you all know, in case your VOIP doesn't work on the 821 VLAN, that maybe it is due to some glitch on the Thomson router.  I discovered this when I accidentally 'flush'-ed the VOIP profile from the Thomson router after logging into the telnet terminal.  After I  created a new one from scratch, the VOIP started working properly.

I was referring to this post where you say the wan port not working

QUOTE
Note that my TP-Link's WAN port is busted so I'm using the switch ports for the incoming routing.  I have the Huawei plugged into port 1, and the Thomson plugged into port 2.  (Port 0 is the WAN port that is busted).  Anyone have ideas on what else needs to be changed?  Thanks in advance

Just buy a wifi extender (tplink or asus). currently only asus can configure without custom firmware. But u'll need to know the vlan id. But u'll lose the VoIP doing so.

I would recommend using the same router but buy a wireless extender

yup same here, i want to replace this POS(piece of shi+), everytime a machine with bitcomet starts, router sure die in less than 10 mins.

I able to figure out the login, username is Administrator and password is the access key which can be found behind the router, should be like 7-8 character long, and case sensitive. What i unable to figure out is how to get all setting out from the maxis POS. I need to know the ip address/subnet of the modem, and my account password, etc. Anybody have done that willing to share your experience ? thank you.
*
There is no need to access ur modem.. All username n password are in the router..

U'll should be able to backup the configuration file n open it as it is just text.

The backup option is located somewhere in your router.. Check all the settings
