Signed Maxis Homelite 30mbps and finished setup on yesterday.
Purchased 3 homeplugs
Should I purchase another better router? Any recommendations?

If all good at your end, you should just leave it as it is.

hey sifus

Just got the maxis fibre line at my home, currently using the standard technicolor router provided by maxis. The signal quite bad on my 1st floor of my terrace house. I went through some of the post here, any other recommendation on the router replacement or just get a AP? TP-Link? Asus? to increase signal and bandwidth especially on the 1st floor.

Thanks!

If you're using the VoIP or IPTV, you wouldn't be able to change your router unless you are familiar with network configuration. I would recommend using a powerline or if your house is on three phase wiring, you have no choice but to use an extender.

If you're not using VoIP or IPTV, I would recommend changing to a TP Link router if you are on a budget or an Asus router if you have a higher budget.

whats maxis fibre MTU?
vlan 621 for internet YES?
Need not the voip
*
Try 1480 or 1492 for the MTU. VLAN is 621 for Internet.

My old Maxis Router Thomson TG784n start working abnormal and connection keep on dropping and frequent restart require.

I contacted Maxis Helpline, said if WIFI router faulty can replace for free. Anyone experience free replacement even out of warranty.

Not sure how much I can trust them.
*
If they say that, make sure you ask the if you need to renew your contract or any other stipulations. However, if you're not using VoIP or IPTV, just get your own router and set it up.

Yep good luck bro. You can use two specific D-Link router which support VoIP but just see how it goes first. Good luck.

guys anyone knows if Netgear Nighthawk will work with Maxis VOIP?
I only knows it can work with Unifi and HyppTV with VLAN tagging
*
Definitely not. You have to set the Maxis Technicolor as a bridge for VoIP.

hey guys i've been trying to get in the huawei modem but i seems to cant get in the modem webpage. which LAN port should i actually connect my cable? is it correctly still LAN1?
*
You can’t get into modem webpage. It is locked down by TM or Maxis in this case.

then that means i cant modifiy to use the maxis router for VOIP and custom router for internet?  cry.gif  mad.gif
*
Unfortunately, you can't do that. You have to retain the Technicolor router as a bridge, but you can use a custom router for Maxis Internet.

DISCLAIMER: This is only on Asus RT-AC86U, dont know about other router

well actually, i did something simple and it works

from the picture, we can see that RT-AC86U 'supports' VoIP.

what i did was just connect a LAN cable to LAN3 port on my Asus router and connect to the WAN port on the Maxis router. The result is that i got VoIP from the Maxis router and internet from the AC86U, the rest are just disabling internet/wifi on the Maxis router and connect the phone jack to the router

That’s what I mean by using the Maxis router as a bridge lol. Thank you for illustrating the example though. Much appreciated.

hi dude, any guide to use technicolor as the bridge?

read the guide on the first thread, but it seems that im using the huawei HG8240 which i cant log in into.
*
Hey bro, you don’t really need to log into the modem. See here as an example:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iBRbk1FSFj0

Another user’s instruction to set up Asus router with the Technicolor router: kaviraja from the Asus Malaysia thread:

1. Connect LAN cable: TM Modem (LAN2) -> Maxis Router (WAN)
2. Connect LAN cable: Maxis Router (LAN1) -> Asus Router (WAN)
3. Connect VOiP cable: Maxis Router (Phone 1) -> Deck Phone
4. Access Thompson Gateway page (192.168.1.254) -> Disconnect Internet Service (Make sure VOiP is active - if it's not active, call Maxis)
5. Access Asus Router setup page (192.168.1.1) -> Setup PPoE

Additional Setup to use Google DNS:
Access Asus Router Setup page (192.168.1.1) -> WAN -> WAN DNS Settings -> Connect to DNS Server automatically -> No
DNS Server 1: 8.8.8.8
DNS Server 2: 8.8.4.4
and click Apply.

Done!

Bro, you sure you have the right PPPoE name and password? Or maybe check your VLAN tagging. 621 for Maxis Fibre Internet.

Bro, you are wrong. 'My Internet Connection' should be 'Maxis-PPPoE'. Try MTU level 1492 or 1480.

*
It doesn’t matter actually bro cause you got the right VLAN ID. You should be able to connect.

can the tg784n v3 be used as a repeater? the other day i called maxis and i asked the technician and he said can. I didn't ask details coz i called for something else.
*
No, might as well buy a repeater as they are inexpensive at the moment.

Hi, how do I change my maxis fiber ppp connection password?
I forgot which password.

Thanks

You have to call Maxis for your password or PM them here.

hi all im thinking to change my technocolor router as well as Huawei modem, any good recommendation of modem router? not too expensive please~?
*
You can’t change your modem, only router. Any router will do, depends on your budget. If you are using VoIP, you have to bridge your technicolor router for VoIP.

Hi Guys,

Need some guidance. I use to have this setup for Maxis:

Alcatel > Asus Router (For WiFi) > Thompson (Just for phone)

All worked fine no problem and the my Asus just stopped working recently, so I got a TP-Link AC5400. But i cant seem to get the phone working. My connection is

Alcatel (LAN2) > TP-Link (LAN4) > Thompson

The IPTV section of the setting is Default:
[attachmentid=9639735]
From Lan 1-4: IPTV, Internet, Internet, VOIP

Am I missing out on something or followed instructions wrongly? Thanks
*
Have you got it sorted yet?

I'm new to maxis fibre. Got few questions before apply maxis fibre.
There is free phone call bundle with package.
1.Normal phone can use other than dect phone?
2.The cable for connect router to phone is nomal phone line cable? Just 2 wire, or 4 wire.
3. Is ok connect multi phone to one output? So that several phone rings when incoming call
4. Total is how many devices for maxis fibre service
5. Instalation charges? Website says waived but agent says rm100+
*
1. Yes. But, dect phone is better.

2. Yes, normal RJ11 phone cable.

3. You need to buy the same phone model as the model provided by Maxis, and pair it to your main phone. That is only applicable for dect phone.

4. Router, ONU, and phone. 3 devices,

5. You have to ask the agent as it depends.

By the way, you can’t really change router as you need it for phone connection, which severely limits your choices for your own router. There is only one model of router available to change to if you want to use the Maxis phone.

Replying to this as I had my problem fixed by the Maxpert that install my new 30 mbps package who came to collect the old Maxis Thomson router.

Background: Long-time 10 mbps RM118/mo customer, recently upgrade to the 30 mbps package due to the promo 139/mo.

According to the Maxpert, on the TM ONU (Huawei HG8240w for me), port LAN2 is assigned to new Maxis customers. This is the port you connect the Maxis router to the ONU for internet.

However for upgrade, or in my case apply for new package, TM assigned port LAN3 for that, as one ONU can accommodate multiple account in the same location. Until I cancel the old account, LAN2 port is still "open" and can use.

So in my case, TM finally finish processing my cancellation of the old 10mbps account and they close the LAN2 port, so now I must use LAN3 port for the ONU->Router connection, instead of LAN2 port.

Hope this can help anyone facing similar issue in the future.  biggrin.gif

Set the Archer C1200 to Maxis profile, and plug the router into LAN2 of the BTU.
