Tiger flies to lcct from singapore. Maybe Jetstar will move there.

Given that MAHB would lose money for every airline shifts from KLIA 1 to KLIA 2, it might want to discourage airlines apart from Airasia from moving to KLIA 2

The airport looks like designed with AirAsia in mind for sure.

It is rumoured that AK HQ will be around that terminal too.

KLIA2 was built as a compromise towards AirAsia initial plan of building "KLIA East" at Labu.

Sorry don't understand.
Can you shed some light on this? Where is Labu? What is KLIA East?
*
AirAsia wanted to build "KLIA East" in Labu, so that AirAsia can have their own terminal (or even an airport)

user posted image

KLIA East is 8.6 km away from KLIA.

Then, government negotiated the issue and came out with a compromise.

MAHB build a new LCCT near KLIA with AirAsia's input.

Labu is in N9.

MAHB man : At this moment, not being planned

Me : Oh, sounds inconvenient to me

MAHB man : Got ERL extension ma...

No way.

KLIA2 to KLIA will be RM 2.

It sounds like there will be 2 separate airports which located next to each other.

ops.. i think that's the whole project about - building a brand new airport - rather than expanding the existing capacity by a new "terminal".

correct me if im wrong...

So, after completion we will have 3 runways is it?
*
Still a terminal rather than airport.

It still has the same "KUL" code.

The KLIA2 project does include the third runway.

Should have just build KLIA Satellite 2 and use it for Air Asia. KLIA is redundant without Air Asia.
*
That was the plan until LCCT "appeared"

The old plan by the late Kisho Kurokawa had been modified.

Where should it have been built then?

Suvarnabhumi received the same criticisms.  That was how its other name "Swampy" came from.  But now, virtually everyone is happy the airport was built, though some still like to use that other name.

I don't see the problem of building it in Sepang.

Anyway, history goes, initially the airport supposed to be built somewhere in the north, closer to Rawang/Bukit Beruntung.

I think there is one flaw in terms of connectivity between KLIA and KLIA2.

ERL is mainly for transport to KL, I don't it is convenient for a transiting passenger to transfer between terminal using ERL. MAHB should have extend KLIA Aerotrain for inter-terminal transport.
