What happens if the target stays in the AF points? It should be in focus then right?
*
depends...

when you half press shutter button you see the red dot blinking, that's the point it will focus and 3D tracking use motion tracking to track the subject, if it detect the subject is moving it will move the tracking point forward and if your subject suddenly stop moving it might not be able to focus sometime, that's what i found out when i shoot motorsport last time

i also found that AF-C on our camera doesn't work well with subject moving towards our camera but works better for left right and up down panning, and 3D tracking AF-C check for focus every few millisecond which i find not very good for me so i normally use single point or auto area

if you are moving yourself with your subject then better use single point AF-C

Usually I use AF-S single point. Was just trying out AF-C with 3D just to test the other day. Guess you can't expect much for a basic DSLR. AF-S single point makes great pictures BTW.

Thanks for explaining, I had the impression I had to take the camera in for servicing (looking at the results).
*
AF-S is the best for still life, events and portrait, i use AF-C for sports and panning only

you might need to change the AF-C priority selection to focus if you are on release mode, focus priority the camera will make sure it is in focus before taking the shoots while release mode the camera will take the shoot no matter it is in focus or while it is focusing

Im ok with the basic term, but more advance term make me  rclxub.gif

Im still learning bout how the camera and exposure works. However, i still dont know when, how and what the correct exposure to use in certain situation  laugh.gif.
Can you explain why u advice me to use F8? Your kind explanation is much appreciated.
*
copy "F8 and be there" then paste it in google la

QUOTE
It will give you enough depth of field to prevent critical focusing mistakes. But it will give you enough of an opening to let light through, thus avoiding the slowest of shutter speeds.

just google for the basics of photography then learn from there and most important SHOOT MORE!!

QUOTE(little ice @ Aug 22 2012, 03:31 AM)
anyone has experiences with the J1/V1 video recording mode? i discovered that the AF-Single isn't usable as it record the AF motor noise whenever i attempt to half-press the shutter button, although it isn't loud but still. i think the AF noise is also due to the dimmer lighting focus method (contrast-detect? was testing indoor) and it's audible without sticking the ear close to the camera, so it's normal to hear that when the built-in mics are so close?

funny enough, the AF-Fulltime mode focused really well and fast but completely silent. guess i'll just use the AF-F all the time then? hmm.gif
*
i never try AF-F, i heard full time is not really accurate all the time

use manual focus if you can

what setting did u use there? the venue has uneven lighting...some area are really dim.

I found it difficult to get a proper exposure without flash.. cry.gif and don't wanna use ISO > 1600. sad.gif
*
aperture priority, auto ISO with maximum ISO 6400, minimum shutter 1/60

or manual mode, auto ISO, maximum ISO 6400, minimum shutter 1/60

i use 1/100 and faster shutter if i want to secure a sharp shoot

lightning at entrance is play, but the ticketing counter there is bad yet still so many cosplayers there and there are even people who setup mini studio sweat.gif

most of the pictures i taken is at 2nd floor at the other end of the hall which have better lightning and less crowded

day 1: 22 picture doh.gif
day 2: 50 picture sweat.gif
