Anyone using lock screen widget on ICS 4.0.4? be it stock or custom ROM.

Once you activated the widget, could it straight lock the screen (totally shut off the screen)?

I tried 3 ROMS with 4.0.4 all didn't work well with the widget. It could lock then the screen wakes up again for 10 seconds before completely shut off.

Anyone facing this problem? hmm.gif

some roms work while some does not.

AOKP M5 does not work with "screen lock and off" app, while ParanoidAndroid works.
*
I tried rascream, cm9, aokp all doesn't works with the screen off widget. Might be 4.0.4 issue.
No problem on 4.0.3

What ROM are you using now?

QUOTE(mengsuan @ Jun 18 2012, 07:05 PM)
I don't get it, why custom ROMs would run hotter than stock ROM. I can see thermal throttling in dmesg.
*
Opposite for me... Stock ROM is much hotter than custom ROM.

On Paranoid Android now. Going to flash away soon.

When I was on aokp M4 it was fine, but M5 it cannot be used.

Anyway, if M5 you can just put a screen lock button on NAV bar, much more convenient than third party app/widget.

Maybe u try to install the latest version again?

Try to mess with setting.
*
Double confirmed, with 4.0.4 the screen lock widget doesn't work as it used to be.

I came from AOKP M4 too.. no problem with it, until I tried most of the latest ROMS with 4.0.4 ICS, it doesn't work.

Other lock screen widget doesn't works too... This might be a bug for 4.0.4

I still think that aokp is the most stable ROM and with the best customization
Tried a lot of new ROM recently, all offer similar ui responsiveness but aokp really win in terms of customization.
Like a guy every time strayed to another ROM but will go back to your wife = aokp .....lol

tried 2 CM9 build ROMS still back to AOKP after 2 hours of flashing... Pink Unicorn still my fav. blush.gif

Just follow the steps... and you are using a dev phone, go custom ROM and play around. forget about stock OTA updates tongue.gif

I am on paranoid Android 4.0.4 and our it's working fine.

I think you need to install the latest version of screen lock app.

try "screen off and lock" app from play store.
latest version should work.
*
Nope, tried... no good.

Found similar case in XDA too. The new API doesn't works well with the screen lock widgets.

Yea, plus phones like S3 NFC not compatible with normal NFC... makes the usage much less between phones
*
S3 can use standard android beam to ICS device like basic stuff such as apps links and such. S-Beam can't be used with other non S-Beam enables devices. So far only S3 to S3 can be done.

I tried android beam a picture from S3 to GNex, no good..

I tested both
One x is not as smooth as Gnex although quad core
But S3 really is a better phone, in terms of ui and raw speed. I can't imagine that phone running on vanilla Android.... And S3 does have a better battery life.

But still not good enough to persuade me to change...hehe, unless the batt is like RAZR maxxxxxxxx
*
One X will be smooth if they stripped down the Sense UI. Sense UI makes it bloated anyway.

QUOTE(fallout @ Jun 21 2012, 12:09 AM)
So means S3 can use NFC with other NFC enable android phones... then when wanna transfer, how can we tell which is transferable?
So when S3 guys wanna beam things to us but failed due to that problem... then they start to tell others that Gnex is lame. sweat.gif
*
yes, S3 NFC can be used with others NFC, but only certain stuff can beam. As I mentioned earlier, only app link, URL, contacts can be beam with non S3 devices.

Pictures, files and such can't be beam with normal Android beam. Only S-Beam from Samsung can make it happen. But only able to do with S3 to S3 at the moment.

Android beam is the fundamental using NFC technology to transfer small stuffs. S-Beam makes it further... So if future Androids can optimize the NFC like S-Beam, it wouldn't be a problem anymore to transfer stuff seamlessly and fast.

Shhhhh... please don't tell anyone that I am a hot chiq blush.gif

Anyway, this is the code that I mentioned just now that need to be patched in order to unmount the USB drives.

CODE
dev_mount usb /mnt/usb auto /devices/platform/omap-ehci.0

then save it to /etc/vold.fstab

if vold.fstab not exist, just create one then pop the code into it. Then save.

HDD needed external source to power it up. normal 5V from GNex wouldn't able to power it...

Rascream/Rascream Bionic? I don't bother about it as for now.
It lacks of features!  doh.gif
And it's benchmark isn't convincing at all.
Of course, it's d@mn smooth(not sure if it's a placebo effect).

CM9 is so far the BEST, IMO. It's comparable to that of AOKP.
It lacks of some customization too, but, not a lot which means it is still very customizable(especially compared to Rascream).
AOKP have more bugs and slower... that's the exchange equilibrium.  tongue.gif
*
AOKP have what kind of common bug? hmm.gif The only bug I found is the screen lock widget problem

i mean rm1.2k for a dual core phone which have pure android experience .

dont seems to know why people opted for hox or s3

Marketing and product recognition.... ask on the road, how many would know nexus? 9/10 says WTF is that??? they only know those phones are heavily marketed and advertised.

Anyway, it is good to have minorities of GNex user, which makes us unique in that sense.. rolleyes.gif

Try Bluetooth on 2 units of G.Nexus with AOKP or any AOKP ROMed devices.
Enjoy, send fail, send fail forever. LOL.

I am not sure if this have fixed... but, this bug had been with AOKP from Build 1 to Build 36(last AOKP I used).
That's why I am assuming the bug is still there.... I can be wrong.

using Linaro CM9, so far everything works fine, except like everyone said, the customization options are limited. =/ but I'll try to live with it for awhile.
Otherwise the ROM is nice, everything is smooth, I can see that the response is slightly faster than AOKP.
Especially the turn screen on time. AOKP used to have a very small delay, but on CM9 its instant.  smile.gif
*
never notice that when testing the Linaro CM9 since last flashing session... Flash back to AOKP after found the tweaks are abit off here and there...

Guess will try again after they release another version of Linaro CM9
