You need ICS + NFC for Android Beam to work.iPhone 4, S2, Note, Tab, all don't have NFC.
S3's S Beam only works with device with S Beam.

a few apps to share that I found interesting from AP
Castle File Manager. its a file manager that allows you to browse stream content using FTP. I haven't try it though, just find the idea interesting Disk Digger for recovering deleted photo/images! I'm sure someone will need this InFoto for plotting your images into infographics by analyzing them. just a fun app to have. |

QUOTE(deblyrie @ Jun 18 2012, 02:19 PM) aosp is the open source code of stock android. anyone can build their custom from from aosp. that's why u see a lot of rom saying they are aosp rom.aokp is one of the custom rom that is aosp based. so is cm9 and any other rom that is close to stock. QUOTE(mengsuan @ Jun 18 2012, 02:26 PM) its hotter with just about any custom rom but aokp is definitely one of the best though. |

QUOTE(Doomsday @ Jun 21 2012, 12:21 AM) One X will be smooth if they stripped down the Sense UI. Sense UI makes it bloated anyway. S-Beam uses NFC to initiate communication, and uses Wifi Direct to send data. Its not really the same thing as Android Beam. Though I'd hope that in the future S Beam gets ported over to Nexus yes, S3 NFC can be used with others NFC, but only certain stuff can beam. As I mentioned earlier, only app link, URL, contacts can be beam with non S3 devices. Pictures, files and such can't be beam with normal Android beam. Only S-Beam from Samsung can make it happen. But only able to do with S3 to S3 at the moment. Android beam is the fundamental using NFC technology to transfer small stuffs. S-Beam makes it further... So if future Androids can optimize the NFC like S-Beam, it wouldn't be a problem anymore to transfer stuff seamlessly and fast. QUOTE(DesmondYow @ Jun 21 2012, 12:26 AM) seriously until now I still have not got tired of it!Especially now that S3 is out, I am even more happy with this phone. lol |

QUOTE(DarkSilver @ Jun 21 2012, 05:20 PM) Rascream Bionic ROM have lower benchmarks in both AnTuTu and Quadrant. seriously I don't really care about benchmarking, imo its useless. It's already pretty useless on desktop, more so on mobile phones. Only Android users likes to benchmark phones like it means something However, it's GUI smoothness is better than those of AOKP, CM9, etc. Pushing V6 SuperCharger is almost like nothing... very minimal improvement(0.5%-1%?). I'll be using it for now until I spotted other ROMs. most importantly its smooth in usage, if its even smoother than AOKP, then that's something worth considering. does it have the option to hide time & battery from the status bar? |

using Linaro CM9, so far everything works fine, except like everyone said, the customization options are limited. =/ but I'll try to live with it for awhile.
Otherwise the ROM is nice, everything is smooth, I can see that the response is slightly faster than AOKP. Especially the turn screen on time. AOKP used to have a very small delay, but on CM9 its instant. This post has been edited by phantomash: Jun 23 2012, 11:04 AM |

QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Jun 24 2012, 10:58 AM) Found no reason to go for Apex/Nova Free Version. What I need in 3rd Party Launchers: any launcher can do that... you just have to drag them to the side 1) Able to drag and drop app/widget from one homescreen to another homescreen 2) Able to create folder in App Drawer Bye bye 3rd party launcher. QUOTE(cougar richard @ Jun 24 2012, 08:44 PM) Running CM9 nightly now. I like the colour hack. Yes, one of the best thing I noticed after switching to CM9 from AOKP, the colour hack. One thing annoy me is the navigation bar height cannot be changed. I tried decompile the SystemUI.apk and been trying to change it, but I cant find any line on the code to mod that. I googled and search on CM9 thread at XDA, no answer found. Anyone can enlighten me? But, like you pointed out, there really are nothing much you can do to the navigation bar, besides adding in buttons. Luckily though, I like to keep my UI changes to the minimum, so the lack of customization doesn't really bother me as much. As long as I get to remove the clock and battery from the status bar, I'm happy. |

QUOTE(cougar richard @ Jun 24 2012, 09:39 PM) If i knew, I would have mentioned it in my previous post QUOTE(mikeeeee @ Jun 24 2012, 09:57 PM) Browser it will default to lower quality video most of the time , YouTube apps will default to HQ videos all the time Yup, exactly this. You'll have to reduce the quality if you want to stream faster. To do that, you'll have to rotate the video to landscape mode, then press on the "HD" button to toggle to low quality (probably 360p or 240p). Do note that there is a difference between HD and HQ. HD = 720p HQ = 480p I find "HQ" still streams at a tolerable speed. Otherwise, the browser actually stream just as fast as the youtube app. This post has been edited by phantomash: Jun 24 2012, 10:04 PM |

QUOTE(vostro78 @ Jun 25 2012, 10:37 AM) may i know whats the ap set price for this phone, saw new sme set selling less then rm1250.... mayb plan to get 1 unit as spare phone since the price / performance ratio is better then s advance. just go for it, whatever price it is, its already cheaper than what we payed for, and its still worth every single penny. And my guess is you probably won't use it as a spare phone once you get your hands on it. |
