 Take apart CPU heat spreader to improve cooling, ...or better ideas?

Remember the old days, where processor don't have heat spreader one?
That time, the processors come with the silicon exposed on the outside, and the heatsink is attached to it directly.

As for me, I don't have the hardware to remove the thing, but I added some liquid coolant into the CPU heatspreader and that helps a bit.

Has anyone don't this kind of mod before on current model CPUs?
