What is Paper Gold?

The term paper gold means you have a piece of paper acting as a substitute for the physical gold. With paper gold, you don't own the gold; you own a promise to receive physical gold. In plain English, it means you are a creditor of the corporation issuing the paper gold certificate, thus subject to counterparty risks. Owning the physical gold has no counterparty risk and is fully under your control.

Examples of paper gold are gold certificates issued by banks and mints, pool accounts, futures accounts and the NYSE listed exchange-traded fund. With these products you own a piece of paper rather than physical gold.


According to Wikipedia, here is the most common millesimal fineness used for gold:

* 999.99 (The purest type of gold in the market)
* 999.9
* 999 (Fineness equivalent to 24 carat, also known as three nines fine)
* 995 (The minimum allowed in Good Delivery gold bars)
* 990 (also know as two nines fine)
* 958.3 (equivalent to 23 carat)
* 916 (equivalent to 22 carat)

yeah. for a small investor that invest in paper gold like me, im looking fwd to take advantage and click the deposit gold button in m2u when the price is right.

my first profit was on monday. eventho it is only rm3/gram, im still happy.
the first time is the sweetest!!!

Yeah..Btw..small investor should choose the lowest spread to maximum profit why choose maybank because of convenience but less profit ?

nope. but cant afford to buy at uob. 20gm to start. and then subsequent 5 iinm.
other bank more or less the same.
for maybank, i can topup 1gm when i dont hv money. even 1 gm, i still topup..
this is to bring down the average(what is the term call???). coz i start from quite high.
