Ok let me explain more detail about smart stay. Smart stay will activate whenever you time limit of screen it is. For example, you set it 30sec, after 30sec you will see eye in the top right corner activate. It used front camera to track your eye movement to determine your eye is starring a not. If yes, it will stay screen on.

Don't cover the front camera. Last method, keep blinking your eye and a reading distance.
