i talk with the person in service center, Y580 is a problem machine, everyone send their device via common issues such as display problem:
1. screen stuck while playing game
2. hardware problem such as myself, bluescreen and power problem

EDITED : mostly Y480 hav no big issue, from the aspect of performance are better than Y580 although the spec is not that high, mostly the problem in Y480 is bluetooth issue.

bro try and go lowyat lenovo service center, really highly recommended, trust me  smile.gif  i been sitting there for whole day chit chat and while fixing my lappy problem with the <technicians  biggrin.gif > there.

blink.gif For real? I was thinking of getting the 580 instead of the 480... Any 580 users here which can testify that this is true? shocking.gif

Same here, quite satisfied with Y580 so far, only complaint is that you need to lock the trackpad again everytime you restart the laptop.

Would like to ask, you using the candy to put ur old HDD in the ROM area? Do you just have it plug in or you still can screw it like the ROM which you cannot pull it out without taking out the screw?

I'm using caddy bay BTW, u can just plug it, screw it just to stable one part of keyboard and the ROM only
BTW news from devour, new Y580 with i7-3630 and Windows 8 is coming next week!
*
Any price change? Hope they have a DOS version for Y580, i guess it would reduce another 100 off the selling price... rclxm9.gif
QUOTE(kuroneko0509 @ Oct 12 2012, 09:34 AM)
you need to screw it. just remove the screwable part from the rom & attach to the caddy

Ok, thanks for the info... was looking at the candy design and i dun saw the hinge on the candy for the screw to secure it on the laptop so wanted some info b4 buying... nod.gif

Oh, wanted to ask this quite some time ago but forgot... the backlit keyboard, is it only always ON/OFF only? Is it possible to have a timer which it turns off if you didn't use the keyboard but it will come back on if you type something?

Hm... seems that the new Y500/400 coming next week when they officially release the Win8... still donno how much i can squeeze from my wallet so might as well wait for the pricing on the Y500 and see how it goes. But now I'm still pro Y580 because i need more USB port (Cooler pad, mouse, digital speaker and maybe pendrive/ext hdd)... tongue.gif

the question is.. fhd?  brows.gif
*
Should be... since they have already include the FHD screen on the Y580, this Y500 will also have the option of either HD or FHD LED screen... The biggest question would be the PRICING, how far apart will the pricing be if compared with the Y580... thumbup.gif

IMO, the price should be higher than Y580 because of dual GPU capability.
*
I think i read somewhere that for Y500 got 2 options where the removable ROM bay connectors would be normal for the budget ones while for the higher end ones would be PCIe or something similar... wait i go dig for the info to see if my memory is correct or not...

^Then the budget model would be worse than Y580 with GTX660M..
*
Maybe they fixed the HDD heat issue and also can see from the design that have added features to help the cooling. Other would be that the backlit keyboard looks nicer... The rest will need to wait till someone own and use it and then feedback to see how well it goes... whistling.gif
