thanks for the advice. i've just browsed thru dell's forum & to find out that 630m that has this problem is due to it's defective "reed/read switch"... i suppose on monday morning when the dell technician comes to meet me, he'll perform such change of that part.

Anyway, defective or not, it's working fine now and i've already told dell's support but they insist on meeting me up still! i wonder why....hehe. Alright, one thing that probably you all can enlighten me, can i install Nero instead of using the bundled Sonic for burning purposes? many thanks!

i don't have problem with mine i630m, everything ok but dunno vs with M50. never used it before.

but compare with my older P3 panasonic toughbook, the 630m screen much better even the price of 630m not even half of the price of the toughbook. (so fast technology evolved)

i dont use 630 for watching movie , so cant really comment about it.

let they come and change your lcd screen, whether ok or not, Dell should know better rather than selling consumer with a defective parts. no wonder why Dell worldwide profits down below than expected. smile.gif

i dont think there should be any problem using nero. when i received my 630m, the first thing i do is reformat the disk. DELL puts a lot of junk program that slow 630m esp while loading XP.

You can install any software you want, it's your computer smile.gif
