Hello friends,

Please be informed that Prudential medical card upgrade (from the old cards to PruHealth) is has been running since last year and this is the final call for those who haven't done the upgrade. The deadline for PruHealth upgrade is 30th Jun 2012.
Any proposal received after this date will be declined.

If you know of any brothers, sisters, friends, family, step brother, step sisters, 1st wife, second wife, in short ANYONE who has Prudential policy and is using the old medical plan, TELL THEM ABOUT THE UPGRADE.

The upgrade is by invitation only for those whom has not claim (or minimal claim) and it upgrades the lifetime limit to 10 times your annual limit.

For example if the lifetime limit is RM 150K, with the upgrade to PruHealth (same R&B plan), it upgrades to RM 500K! This is to curb future medical inflation which are expected to rise at a 15% per annum!

Getting admitted at a private hospital these days for a common flu for 3-4 days can easily cost between RM 2.5~3K!

Remember, the medical card needs to take care of you till the expiry of the term, until we are age 70 or 80 or more! Also, one can only do the upgrade while we are still healthy.

So get in touch with your Prudential servicing agent or if the agent that is servicing you has left or lost contact, do feel free to drop me an email.

Thank you.

I'm not quite sure about my PruHealth card is either upgraded or not.
However I've not contacted my agent since when I got this card.

It was a PRUassist card with 'Emergency Medical Assistance' and 'International Travel Assistance' written on it. And a blue Globe picture beside there.
Is that the medical card you mentioned above??

What can I get for the upgrade?
What to do to get the upgrade?

If your card is blue in color then its still under the PRUmajor Med (PMM) card. The new PRUhealth card is silver in color.

Upgrading to PRUhealth lets you enjoy:

> COMPREHENSIVE coverage for hospitalisation and surgery bills
The older PMM cards has a low lifetime limit (below year 2005). Upgrading to PRUhealth extends the lifetime limit to 10 times your annual limit. For example if your plan is currently RM 100 R/B (with a lifetime limit of RM 150K), upgrading to PRUhealth will increase the lifetime limit to RM 500K!

This is to curb future medical inflation and lets not forget, the medical card needs to take care of you & your loved ones till you're age 70 or 80 or even up to age 100!

To check whether the lifetime limit is sufficient or not needs to be done now and not when we are bedridden/down with any illnesses as medical insurance is something that we can only take up (be it an upgrade or getting a new card) when we are healthy.

> No claim bonus
If we are sick, then use the PRUhealth card, but most of us never claim before and PruHealth rewards you with annual bonuses (NCB) of up to RM500 when you do not make any claim for the year. The bonuses will automatically be credited in the form of additional units to be invested into funds of your choice, thus increasing your cash value, or to be withdrawn+ should you have the need to.

> Option to seek medical treatment overseas
Under the PRUhealth plan, you now have the option to add in a rider of overseas medical treatment for 5 types of covered conditions in Singapore, Hong Kong and China with PRUmedic overseas.

> Automatic Upgrade Option of your PruHealth plan
Your PRUhealth plan will be upgraded to the next benefit level on the 5th and 10th year rider benefit anniversary regardless of your health condition and any previous medical claims you may have made when you take up PRUmedic auto upgrade. This upgrade will follow the policy terms and conditions at the start or as and when it is attached to your PRUhealth plan

> Choice to CHANGE your coinsurance option
If you are thinking of enhancing your existing medical plan coverage, you can also opt for PRUhealth with either RM3,000 or RM10,000 deductible. Include this with PRUmedic retirement benefit and it will automatically switch the deductible amount to coinsurance when you reach 55 years old next birthday. Not only will it make your plan more affordable, it also gives you coverage when you need it the most – your retirement

> An option to WAIVE the annual claims limit
Worried that your medical bills might surpass your annual limit? You are now given the flexibility to waive the annual limit of your plan by attaching an optional PRUannual limit waiver rider to your PRUhealth plan which enables you to make claims above your annual limit.

What you need to do is either get in touch with your agent as he/she has direct access to your files. If the agent is no longer servicing you, you can email to me your policy no, name & IC.

I'll then check whether you're eligible for the upgrade and advice what to do next.

Ps. It is recommended to do upgrade to extend the medical card coverage age till age 80. At least that adds another 20years of cover after retirement.

If I hold PRUmajor Med(PMM), can I increase my lifetime limit instead of upgrade to Pruhealth.

For what I knew, PMM is better than Pruhealth, in term of coverage as follow:-

QUOTE
PruHealth is under the new policy contract since 2008 (or 2009 cant remember). The older PruMajorMed cards are the ones that does cover the long term medication, take home drugs.

QUOTE
Do note that take home drugs, examination test & long term medications is not payable under the new policy contract.

Thus, the PMM is more beneficial for patients who have cancer and kidney failure.

Do correct me if I m wrong.

If you are based on invitation basis, then the superior terms from your old PMM cards will be retained! rclxms.gif

For those who specifically upgrades it without any invitation, it is subjected to the new contract.

For example if your PMM card is without co-insurance, upgrading it to the new PruHealth is without co-insurance! icon_rolleyes.gif

However, one thing to note, if your policy is without any pre-existing illness exclusion/loading and along the years one develops cysts, or tumor or any medical condition prior to the upgrade, the upgrade will make your policy is with pre-existing illnesses condition.

In this case, it is best to try to get another policy.

In terms of cancer/kidney, the PruHealth puts a cap on co-insurance for outpatient treatment, 10% or maximum RM 2K! Thus it is better. As opposed to the PMM card, no cap on co-insurance.

If the bill is RM 15K for cancer, co-insurance 10% = RM1.5K

Mind elaborate more for the red highlight above...
If PMM has no co-insurance, that mean all expenses(outpatient treatment) are borne by insurance company, isn't it is better than Pruhealth?
e.g. if the bill is RM15K for cancer/kidney failure, under PMM, all expenses will be borne by insurance company.

The earlier 1st & 2nd generation PMM cards are without co-insurance. The 3rd~5th generation PMM cards are the ones that are with co-insurance 10%.

If your medical card was from 1st & 2nd generation that is withtout any co-insurance, then upgrading to PruHealth retains this feature (no co-insurance).

However, if the medical card is from PMM3~PMM5 range which is with co-insurance, there is no cap for co-insurance on outpatient treatment, subject to 10%. If the bill is RM 30K for outpatient, client will need to pay RM 3K co-insurance.

Hence even if you own PMM1/2 ~ PMM 5, upgrading to PRUhealth retains whatever good benefits you have in your earlier contract while giving you more ( in terms of NCB, higher lifetime limit and options to add in new riders like annual limit waiver).

The upgrade is only applicable to Investment Linked Policy and not Pruvantage. Is your plan Pruvantage or ILP?

Your servicing agent is able to view whether you are selected for the upgrade. However if you want I can help to check.

Kent pls email to me yr full name & policy no. My email details are in my sig.
