arghh not rooting this phone makes me crazy but, i dont want to make it dirty too fast

what is the program the can snap the picture of the wallpaper/surfac of the phone? ( to show what icon/program that use in the phone ) somnething like print screen

can i just off the 3g and leave the 'normal' internet on? i wan the data on for watsapp n all but i dont wan 3g on all the time as it will drain my battery.

please explain. i used android since a year ago but keep on seeing people root here and there. what is the point ya?

You can restrict certain permissions from apps such as 3G(only use Wifi), block apps from collecting Phone ID,access call logs/sms ,etc only through certain programs like LBE Privacy Guard or Avast Anti Virus which require root for such features

Other features of root is to use programmes such as Voltage smth or SetCPU which can cap your phone processor to like 0.8GHz to save battery,etc.

Root is also required for installing custom firmwares like CM9,etc

Anyone can enlighten me with battery life ? This phone has make me to look at android once again.
With tons of widgets + Facebook , gmail , twitter updating in background , whatsapp , line moderate usage.
Any moderate to heavy users here care to give some end user review ? Thanks

then the next question is: "do you need the mobile internet access?"  If you do not receive important email on the go and solely rely on wifi at home/office for internet access, then the answer is NO - dun sign contract.  Coz all the SIII contract will bundle a data plan. In fact, for DiGi, the SmartPlan is a data plan purely.  You still need to pay for call/sms separately.  So if you are not using the mobile internet, it is a total waste of money. 

But i strongly suggest you to sign up for a plan with basic data like the Maxis Internet basic RM50 package with a 250MB.  Without data plan, you will get a big shock when you receive the bill after someone accidentally turn on the mobile internet on your SIII.  This basic data plan can be sign up without a contract.

sesungguhnyer, ianya terlalu mahal untukku. dah ler i had to spend RM999 for the phone (yes, it's the most expensive phone i've ever owned).... think i'll wait for some cheaper ones to come out. right now, still going around with the original protector on... hahahhh....

I might just get the samsung hs3000 or the hm3700 which is priced pretty similar in ebay.

got any review of it?  just want to make sure it cover the whole front.  how it does that since the edge of the front is not totally flat? 

decided to get the s3 first while waiting for htc to solve quality issues with the 1x.
besides, the earlier zerg rush had died out.

arnd 10:30 am after taking bfast at coffee bean, strolled over to the mv blue cube outlet next to kenny rogers.
found out from the pak cik thr got abt 20 sets of pebble blue s3 selling at 2199.

no crowd, quite relaxed atmosphere...ok, so let's do this.

while waiting for pak cik and a young lcly chinese chap attending their customer, got one sorhai rushed in.
his face looked like he found God  after they told him got stock and it was pebble blue.
then he told a story abt how he rushed from celcom jln ampang, pavillion and capsquare before coming over here.
afterwds he sat down exhausted and played with the demo set.

was too polite to laugh at this guy.but in my heart was laughing at him.
well, tbph even the pak cik also shaked his head a bit.

when it was my turn, pak cik took out a new box, checked the phone together with me.
he even know the screen test code. 

chatted a bit with him...asked him abt the sales of s3,
"biasalah, benda baru. banyak org tengok, tak ramai yg beli. stok pun banyak"
"apa mau buat, free gift pun takde".

then i asked him whether he bought one...

"takde, tunggu iphone five"

asked me to go sep for accessories.

anyway, everythg seems ok, so cabut and test out the phone for normal usage.

initial impressions:

essentially it looks more like a beast than a beauty.

phone is huge.but good grip.
display is clear and good. but not excellent like h1x.

and finally, android have landed. although it took them a few years (4 generations) and quad core to achieve lag-free experience.


charging...

last time, the biggest complain about Maxis data plan is... after exceed the quota, the charge can be really costly... unlike Digi where after quota, no charge, just speed get throttled.

in this new plan's case (no contract), first extra 50mb beyond 1.5GB = rm10

I'm already using hs3000 since Note. I really can't figure out what's the difference. Tonight test again. The stock earbud is so so only.
