QUOTE(chester91 @ Jun 4 2012, 02:30 AM) can i just off the 3g and leave the 'normal' internet on? i wan the data on for watsapp n all but i dont wan 3g on all the time as it will drain my battery. if you want data of course you have to use 3G. or you can disable 3G and use wifidon't worry about 3G draining your battery. if you don't use much data transfer over 3G the phone would probably last whole day or even more QUOTE(garagesell @ Jun 4 2012, 02:41 AM) go to settings> motion > make sure it is on. and read the tutorialQUOTE(-kytz- @ Jun 4 2012, 02:41 AM) So many games were "missing" from google play. QUOTE(chester91 @ Jun 4 2012, 02:52 AM) hrm... does the phone know how to switch to 3g as soon as it detects a wifi signal that is recognised? yes it will automatic switch to wifi. just make sure wifi is turn on, and make sure the phone connects to that wifi before so it remembers the access point. if the wifi is never connected to the phone before, u need to manually connect it firstFirst time smart phone user here.. so im sort lost.. QUOTE(garagesell @ Jun 4 2012, 03:15 AM) zenetic.. seem like u are expert here few question: what is root? why root? how to root? which root is the best? please explain. i used android since a year ago but keep on seeing people root here and there. what is the point ya? QUOTE(-kytz- @ Jun 4 2012, 03:19 AM) You can restrict certain permissions from apps such as 3G(only use Wifi), block apps from collecting Phone ID,access call logs/sms ,etc only through certain programs like LBE Privacy Guard or Avast Anti Virus which require root for such features to make it simple, root is to give you more administrative access into the core android functionsOther features of root is to use programmes such as Voltage smth or SetCPU which can cap your phone processor to like 0.8GHz to save battery, etc. Root is also required for installing custom firmwares like CM9,etc why root? explained above. but there's more as you learn how to root? you can follow this guide by androidnz http://www.androidnz.net/2012/06/at-your-o...-root-your.html or from LYN user benny888 aka uncle benny http://leemn.wordpress.com/2012/06/03/gala...rkmod-recovery/ but note that your warranty may be tampered. QUOTE(Cynox @ Jun 4 2012, 04:53 PM) then the next question is: "do you need the mobile internet access?" If you do not receive important email on the go and solely rely on wifi at home/office for internet access, then the answer is NO - dun sign contract. Coz all the SIII contract will bundle a data plan. In fact, for DiGi, the SmartPlan is a data plan purely. You still need to pay for call/sms separately. So if you are not using the mobile internet, it is a total waste of money. i think this is a better plan now. i'm currently using itBut i strongly suggest you to sign up for a plan with basic data like the Maxis Internet basic RM50 package with a 250MB. Without data plan, you will get a big shock when you receive the bill after someone accidentally turn on the mobile internet on your SIII. This basic data plan can be sign up without a contract. http://www.maxis.com.my/internet/default.html?d=3 |

Minimum is RM50 for 1.5GB data and if you are not making any call/sms, only pay RM50? yep. its a very new plan actually. i think maxis just release it last month. i jumped from digi smart plan 48 to this.Awesome. totally no regrets at all. you pay rm48 for digi, get 1gb only, and their line is lousy |

QUOTE(Cynox @ Jun 4 2012, 05:07 PM) got any review of it? just want to make sure it cover the whole front. how it does that since the edge of the front is not totally flat? yep it covers the whole front. because its a wet based sp, its more flexible then dry based |

QUOTE(KuLi @ Jun 4 2012, 05:09 PM) decided to get the s3 first while waiting for htc to solve quality issues with the 1x. even you go for S3 ? congrats on your purchase besides, the earlier zerg rush had died out. makes more sense to get it now since not intending to sign plan or forced into buying accessories. arnd 10:30 am after taking bfast at coffee bean, strolled over to the mv blue cube outlet next to kenny rogers. found out from the pak cik thr got abt 20 sets of pebble blue s3 selling at 2199. no crowd, quite relaxed atmosphere...ok, so let's do this. while waiting for pak cik and a young lcly chinese chap attending their customer, got one sorhai rushed in. his face looked like he found God then he told a story abt how he rushed from celcom jln ampang, pavillion and capsquare before coming over here. afterwds he sat down exhausted and played with the demo set. was too polite to laugh at this guy.but in my heart was laughing at him. well, tbph even the pak cik also shaked his head a bit. when it was my turn, pak cik took out a new box, checked the phone together with me. he even know the screen test code. chatted a bit with him...asked him abt the sales of s3, "biasalah, benda baru. banyak org tengok, tak ramai yg beli. stok pun banyak" "apa mau buat, free gift pun takde". then i asked him whether he bought one... "takde, tunggu iphone five" asked me to go sep for accessories. anyway, everythg seems ok, so cabut and test out the phone for normal usage. initial impressions: essentially it looks more like a beast than a beauty. phone is huge.but good grip. display is clear and good. but not excellent like h1x. and finally, android have landed. although it took them a few years (4 generations) and quad core to achieve lag-free experience. charging... » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « QUOTE(mydragoon @ Jun 4 2012, 05:09 PM) last time, the biggest complain about Maxis data plan is... after exceed the quota, the charge can be really costly... unlike Digi where after quota, no charge, just speed get throttled. you need to subscribe for the additional 50mb = rm10 to work. otherwise it will still count at 30sen/mb.in this new plan's case (no contract), first extra 50mb beyond 1.5GB = rm10 but nowadays maxis will send you a message if you're going to reach quota. people who still complaint about overcharged bills obviously have no idea what they're doing QUOTE(temppei @ Jun 4 2012, 05:14 PM) zeneticX : here you go.. thanks a lot. HS3000 seems like a better dealhttp://www.mobiletechreview.com/ubbthreads...hp?Number=40854 mono and stereo for hm3700. but i heard if you use bluetooth the sound won't be processed by the wolfson chip. not sure how valid is it Added on June 4, 2012, 5:19 pm QUOTE(andrekua2 @ Jun 4 2012, 05:17 PM) I'm already using hs3000 since Note.
