Hi, I will start my MUFY in Sunway soon and I would like some Ex-student or currently student to tell me something about the course (I have read most of the posts about MUFY, but found that they are quite old).

Anyway, to make a long story short. I'm looking for accommodation (maybe Sun-U residence).
According to website(college), they show only the appearance of the accommodation.
They didn't show much details about the interior, so are there anyone who are living (or lived) in there could tell me how's the interior looks like (any pictures?)? And what is your experiences when you live in there?

Your help would be greatly appreciated!!

I think you better visit the place yourself as there are many things you need to consider.



There are few things you need to consider:
1) Environment factor- Hygiene, is the place peaceful/quiet, safety, is it comfortable, the more spacious the room, the better

2)Housemates/apartment mates/ flatmates - Are they friendly, considerate etc. Do they smoke? Notice that are they hygienic?

3) Water heater- you don't want to shower in cold right..

4) Water filter- I don't think this is available in every place but best if there is one.

5) Cooking- some places don't allow cooking (fire) but I think light cooking is ok, using electric one, like induction cooker and slow cooker but I don't think cooking is necessary as there are plenty of places which you can reach by walking . Cooking is troublesome unless you share with friends

6) Internet- Is there any internet available? Internet is very important..

7) Washing machine- Best if there is one! Otherwise imagine that you would have to carry your 1kg 2kg clothes to the laundry..

8) Accessibility- KTM, taxi, 24 hours 7-eleven

I think there are more..But I think these are the basics to ensure a good college life.

If you are ok with the price, then rest assured you will be well taken care of. If you prefer slightly higher end, opt for Monash Residence.

hi i am now staying in sun u residence, yes its a bit 'old n dont looks so good despite its name condo'.let me clear all your doubts

1)Environment quite ok, there will be 'kakak' coming to clean the unit NOT your room every few days. Security yeah its quite ok with the access card system. comfortable or spacious err its ok but if you got tons of stuff then its gonna be very small space left

2)that i have no idea since i have no idea what kind of people they will put you with. from my experience, i have been getting mostly good housemates/roomates. only once i got smoker housemate n end up all the laundry got smoke smell

3)yes there is water heater

4)there is a water machine which dispense hot n cold water and its filtered

5)supposedly its not allowed according to official rules but shhhh ..... induction cooker yes,but dont get caught LOL

6)yes free 128 kbps slow dao ........, however there is an option 1mbps rm70/month or 512 at 60 or 50 cant remember. PPS is not block BTW lol

7)yes there is washing machine some unit got new nice ones from samsung or panasonic while some unfortunately got the old toshiba one(not really old erm 2008 model)

8)sunway shuttle bus n taxi is available at main entrance.taxi mostly dont use meter or depend on where you want to go then they may use meter,most importantly try to runding the price

let me add some more
9)there is a fridge pretty old one
10)some or perhaps all unit have TV dont expect LCD with astro just normal tv
11)convenience store downstairs as well as poolside cafe

well on the other hand sunway monash residence is wow stark difference perhaps coz its new
inside the room you get a small fridge n TV so according to some of the people that stay there most of the time you stay in your own room,unlike in sun u residence where we often sit in the living room n chat
with regards to internet monash residence provide 1GB yes4g free,if you want xtra pay more or use starbucks wifi
aircond is metered up to 180hr per month, excess usage charge more n free laundry up to 5kg i think 1wk since SMR no washing machine

At first, I thought about Monash residence but wow..the price so I think I will pretty sure end up with Sun-U residence(Twin Sharing).

I have read the rules and regulations, and it seems pretty strict, ouch.

1. Enviroment - I think as long as it's quiet enough, that will be alright. Since, I'm not living in a fancy house here too.

2.Housemates/roommates - This is the thing that I most concern about.

3.water heater - Checked!

4.Water filter - Checked!

5.Cooking - I would like to cook too if I am allow to, but rules and regulations said it no, so better just follow. Checked!

6.Internet - As long as I can use to do research, and not too slow(like 1mb for an hour) that's fine for me.

7. Laundry - Uh, after you washed your clothes...How do you guys dry it? From the floor plan that I saw, I can't see any places to dry the clothes.

8.Transportation - I think that will be fine, good to have some walk except during night.

EXTRA
-How's the air condition, can only switch on in a certain time?
-Are there any library around or you just stay in the room whole time to do your study?
-There are more facilities provided in Monash residence, can you guys use it if you are not from there?

This is the first time I study in sunway college, really hope I could get a good details of it.
At the same time, I also have contacted and emailed to the admin and staffs there but I think they got annoyed by me already.

7. laundry there is actually a cloth drying area actually n since its not enough we even bought our own clothes drying rack (imagine 3 people doing laundry the same day)
air condition switch on 247 also can but remember there is 550 cap per unit for electric,use more pay more
n if not in the room pls switch it off otherwise fine rm50 for electric wastage
library yeah sunway college library n also monash library if you dont mind the walk
about facilities in monash residence im not so sure but i think monash n sunway have a some sort of agreement that students from both monash n sunway can use facilities at monash n also at sunway

shoot out any question you have, n im happy to clear as much as possible your questions

Tell them what type of roommate you prefer and they will try to accommodate. Try avoiding internationals in the unit as well.

having koreans or indonesian (indonesian chinese) as housemate/roomate was pretty ok though from my own experience

singing hmm luckily im not faced with these kind of problems.but i do hear sometimes at night very loud singing dont know form where lol

After hearing from you guys, the only thing came to my mind...(Gonna be a tough year..)

Same old joke; I used to be a hardworking student, then I met a bunch of friends.
(Hope this won't apply in me this year, I love to make friends but study still needed to be focus on too)

By the way, did you guys say Korean, Indonesian....
(No offence, I never expect foreigners to study in our country due to those stereotypes of the country)

Anymore advise or guidance? Got to prepare myself to face the worst case scenario.

yes Koreans,Indonesians.in fact quite a lot of Indonesians (perhaps 2nd largest population in sunway n monash after Malaysians)

what kind of advice n guidance? general advice:be careful wherever you are n dont get into the bad company

Hehe. my advice is just be yourself, don't gaduh with others, be decisive don't exactly follow what others say, you have to come up with your own ideas too!

-And are there any gender segregation in the dorm (I used to study in boy school only and live with bunch of girls in home, very tired of them when come to toilet/bathroom problems).

haha yes of cos you can bring outside food
gender segregation yes 1 block of girls only block, another block is mixed block.but usually it will be a all boys unit or all girls unit

Anyone know what time is the curfew in sun u now? And hows the enviroment? I know nothing about this, im from sabah going study soon in monash

curfew is 12am for weeksdays while 2am for weekends

But for math, calculus parts may/not pawn me at the end...

calculus is easy calculus la, except you take advance math

btw curfew hours not valid exam season n most of the time the guard dont care.at most fill in a late form

means if go in hostel after curfew just fill a form and it's done? lol

But i still have some questions. The internet in Sun-U Residence. It is wired or wireless? So if i'm taking 1mbps i need to share the 1mbps with all housemates? If other are downloading and streaming, will it affect my connection?

its wired and you need your own cable.supposedly its 1mbps for you only,others downloading or streaming wont affect much

well its hard for me to suggest unless you can go and view the rooms in other private condo such as lagoon view.i think maybe stay in sun u residence for the minimum contract period of 3 months,and move out to others after that period if not satisfied with Sun U residence

Have you heard of indah villa condominium?
Is it near to Monash University?

yes its quite near but a bit farther than lagoonview and sun u residence distance to monash
but i would not recommend that place (environment and safety wise) unless you have a group of friends to accompany you when walking to that place
but some people said its quite good and cheap than lagoonview

Hi all, I'm currently doing SPM, like now is in d mid of spm lol. Well, I got a scholarship from d Sunway Special Scholarship 2020 for pre-u studies. I opted for A-level. Soooo excited, but here's d question.

1.I'm going to take physics, chemistry and math. Planning to take up additional math but is it hard?

2.How's life in sunway? I mean like do u have lots of free time for personal stuff n study or is it cramped up like waking up everyday at 5+am for assignments?
Also, how r d students there, like secondary school ones or?

3.Expenses. About how much will it cost every month for expenses like if we eat at cafes n stuff? Excluding accommodation and course fee.

4.Is d A-level exam deadly? Especially for d Additional math subject.

5.How's d course? Is it really so exam-based like what I heard or u learn like normal?

6.Are d lecturers friendly? Good ones?
