My phone cant received 3G and it has been 2 days..
I'm using Maxis in slot 1. Is it Maxis or My phone problem??
Hi all, I am glad that I found this thread coz now I can share my Desire V problems/ experience. I previously posted this problem on another forum but nobody seemed to have the same problem and I thought I was the only one with these problems. Anyway this was what happened my phone.
I bought my HTC Desire V on the 21st of July 2012. However, from the second day onwards, I have been having problems with my mobile internet (3G). The problem is that whenever I restart my phone, the 3G does not work anymore. The 3G also disappears (does not comeback) whenever I turn off the WiFi as well. I have to remove and put back the battery to get the mobile internet to work again as all other methods don’t work. In the APN settings, it states that “No SIM card found. Please insert a SIM card into phone”
After about 3 weeks, I decided to go to the service centre. When I went to the service centre opposite Berjaya Times Square, I was told replace my SIM card with a new SIM card (my SIM 1 was Maxis postpaid and SIM 2 was Celcom postpaid) card to see if the SIM card was faulty. I then went to Maxis and changed to a new Maxis SIM card and I still had the same problem. The guy at the SiS service centre then said it was a Maxis problem and not the phone because they tested with a Celcom SIM and everything was ok. I went back and forth about 4 times before SiS agreed to swap with a new phone. However they told me that I cannot comeback with the same problem coz then its confirm not the phone problem and it’s the Telco compatibility issue. I agreed to this condition.
However, the day I got the new phone, the same problem persisted. This time I went to Maxis and converted my postpaid to prepaid and then went to Celcom to add Mobile Data to my Celcom. After I switched the SIMs around (i.e. Celcom being the 1st SIM and Maxis the 2nd SIM), the Celcom 3G now is always on and does not disappear even If I restarted the phone or disconnect the WiFI. So it seems that Maxis 3G is not compatible with this phone for some reason. This is a real shame as Maxis's 3G seems more stable and is faster than Celcom's 3G (Celcom always fluctuating between G, 3G and H whereas Maxis constantly stay at H). One thing though, only certain Maxis numbers not compatible with this phone. When I tested with my Uncle’s Maxis SIM Card, it worked fine the entire day no matter how many time I restarted the phone or disconnect from WiFi.
PS: I tried buying the 1 day pass for my now prepaid Maxis and use the Hotlink 3G in SIM 1. Still no luck. My 3G disappears after I restart the phone.
I also have the stupid X with either SIM at any point in a day. It’s mostly with SIM 2 but sometime SIM 1 will also kena. Very frustrating. I keep missing calls. Suddenly the missed call messages will come all at once and I have to call everyone back. Very irritating. I don’t think I have gone through a full day without seeing the X on either SIM. For me, this X problem is actually worse than the 3G problem. I am wasting my money of having to call people back everytime.
Because of this experience I am never buying a HTC again.
