So many people providing ERP systems but no one giving any reviews for them. My company using one of the local ones now facing so many issues. My OLD DOS accounting system (despite it is a dinosaur) works slightly better than the new one.

Hi Alroid,

Let me share my experience on using both those 'big brands' ERP and locally developed ERP systems.

I used Oracle when I worked for my previous MNC company. I agree that they are very powerful software systems, packed with a lot of features as they are already very established. So from features wise, they are good.

However, their disadvantage is that the system is very complicated and complex to be used. I used it for many years, but took quite some time to learn how to use it and never enjoy using it as it's not user-friendly. I guess they focus more on features therefore not focus on user interface. Of course, I'm sure that their price will be very high too.

I'm now using a locally developed ERP systems for my current company. The system's name is Skydaa Systems. It's developed by a local company in Penang called Skyvix (http://www.skyvix.com.my). I like it because it's very user-friendly (not as complicated as Oracle), nice user interface, customizable at reasonable price (my company gets a customized solutions based on our business process) and the support is very good. The support team is very friendly and always helps us when we have questions or issues. Normally I'll email / call them and their response is fast & helpful. The features are good too as they customized for us exactly based on what we need for our company. You can check out their website or contact them for more details.

Hope it helps! smile.gif

By the way, what is the local ERP system that your company is using right now?

ERP is one funny area. Don't get fooled by the terms ERP.

Determine what area you are looking at to improved. Your sales? Your purchasing / procurement? Production? Reporting? Financial?

Whether local ERP or foreign ERP, it is depends on the decision maker. It is like blonde is better or asian chick is better? The most important things is the functionality suits your requirement, are they stable company, what is their next 5 years blueprint for the software? how about expansion? Have you check with their others existing users?

It is like a marriage, you need to do your own due dilligence. It is like finding a good wife

Good to hear that you are happy with a system, it doesn't matter what system u use as long as it automates your work.

You've seen Peoplesoft, I presume. Microsoft and SAP are rubbish because of age.
Ask any Dynamic AX or Navision users, look at their user interface, talk to what they can offer and you'll quickly find that with the right choice of local provider, the aforementioned ERPs are basically off-the-shelf products with high price tag.
Customization is a must and they can't deliver. Any Microsoft user will tell u that their Navision or AX made the deadline for main modules but any customized portion is never-ending.

You pretty much summed it all up.
Problem is when expanding and the speed of expansion (if any). This is where many companies find that they are not dealing with developers who have ready product + ability to extend the system.

1) for support, you rely on "second hand engineers from companies who don't own the source code" = limitation
2) when u expand your business, you can't get anything quick

OpenERP seems like quite an awesome open source ERP.. the cost should be much lower since there's no licensing fee to add on the system unlike SAP, Oracle and others..

anyone has experienced with OpenERP before? or their company is using OpenERP?

Nowadays, almost every business is some or the other way is using software products or use web based software applications for performing daily organizational activities.

If you consider the custom-made software to fulfil your business' need, let me know. I'll try my best.

Thought local ERP software are all come from foreign product. However, I've found that Malaysia still have some few people had their own ERP software. How to find Malaysian ERP leh?? Any advice can i get here?

Choose wisely. Think of the flexibility of the ERP as well as the cost. Most of the time, if you keep adding custom programs and reprogramming the ERP, they will charge you. Ensure that you have your SOP and Process flows all covered manually before you entrust the responsibility to an ERP Company. If they are unsure their program can be executed, don't include them in the shortlisted company.

There is a freaking company going around cheating people due to their ERP not being flexible.
and when we call them to report technical issues, they say, "Ask your manager to ask me. Convey your message to your manager" Damn arrogant punya company.
Managers understand the system thoroughly? Ofcoz NOT. rclxub.gif

You can try out the no#1 open source, cloud-based, All-In-One ERP + CRM + E-Commerce + POS - Odoo (odoo.com).
Small SME can just start with essential module like Sales, Accounting, Purchasing or Inventory.
When the business grow, the same Odoo solution can be scale up (same system) to CRM, E-Commerce, POS, Manufacturing, HR, etc.
There are Odoo Enterprise Edition (Paid license) and Odoo Community Edition (Free without license).
Depending on the modules, total cost of investment can go down as low as 10K and above.
try https://www.excelroot.com to local Malaysia partner.

Hi - i just came across this thread. Am looking for a solution for a SME. Mostly trading. Wondering if there are any reasonably priced solutions out there? Would be great if there was analytics involved or integration with Tableau.

Happy to discuss solutions, thanks
