hmm.gif Why do you need to find Malaysia ERP? Why not ERP from outside Malaysia? Any particular reasons? Cost maybe your concern?

There are some local ERP, if by ERP you mean, they have some accounting, billing, stock & manufacturing module but missing many many other parts. Namely PlanetSoft, MERP, MySoft....BUT imho, none of these can use the word "ERP", in fact its not even close. Calling themselves, MRP, maybe still can consider possible lar.

Anyway, ERP can be very niche in its functions. A plastic injection moulding company requirements for ERP is extremely different from a construction company requirements for their ERP.

And if anyone has a budget of less than 200 -300k, then don't even bother looking for ERP. You will only get trash with an ERP label. So for anyone that are seriously loooking into MRP or ERP, may have to scale up their budget, or scale down their expectation.

Hi!

I'm setting up some public information regarding ERP and getting it relevant to the local market here in Malaysia. Its a work in progress, and i'll slowly add to the DB that i'm building at the moment.

I'll also try to add relevant information regarding the ERP industry as everything these days is dynamic and ever changing.

You may log on to http://erpinmalaysia.blogspot.com/ to get some information.

thank you.

but if there is an ERP that cost you under 100k.. isn't that worth investing in? considering that there are trial or demo version before this ERP goes live.

Hi,

Is there any users here who has used those 'big brands' ERP like Oracle/SAP (etc) and then also used the locally developed ERP software here?

would like to get your actual feedback on the experience, for those who has used both.

Thanks

@Wetside

You might want to look a product called OpenERP. It is an opensource ERP solution. I used this software 1000s of miles away from its original development environment (which happens to be belgium). Having spent 2 years developing and maintaining systems using OpenERP, i'll say this: 1) its free, 2) it is customizable. HOWEVER there is a catch. Before you look at using an ERP system like this you have to know the downside. The downside is this, if there is no Malaysian module (for malaysian taxes, holidays, payment dates, invoices etc.) it is hard to customize. Not impossible to customize, but OpenERP makes it difficult to customize so that you have to approach them for support.

So depending on the size of your company (10-100 employees and monthly revenue of say RM 500,000) this may be an option - at least check it out - but don't believe all the hype, it is not nearly as Open as the name would imply.

But, with ERP you really end up paying either way. Either pay up front for a standard widely used localized version, or pay for an inexpensive version and pay for heaps of repair and customization later.

That might not answer your question, but food for thought. I hope that adds one more option for you try out.

So many people providing ERP systems but no one giving any reviews for them. My company using one of the local ones now facing so many issues. My OLD DOS accounting system (despite it is a dinosaur) works slightly better than the new one.
