QUOTE(shootkk @ Jun 6 2012, 08:53 AM) For those of you who do not know what you're missing out on if you haven't played hardcore mode, here's an extract from my blog post that might give you all an understanding of why we use hardcore: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I am gonna take it slow from now and concentrate more on my Hardcore character who is a level 10 Wizard. She has only one life to live so even though she is still on normal mode difficulty, it's all the more exciting. Last night she vanquished the Skeleton King. Nearly died in that encounter. I had to keep my cool and steer her away from certain death. I had to make sure I hit all the right buttons or else she will die. When the Skeleton King finally fell, the sense of relief was great. Like I have mentioned in a previous post, you walk out of every battle feeling stronger when playing in hardcore mode. Even though non-hardcore haracters also do level up, levelling up a hardcore character feels all the more real.
Your heart really do skip a beat when you see that health meter emptying and your character is one hit away from certain death. You start to panic but you tell yourself that you have to pull yourself together or you won't make it. Your focus now becomes pin sharp as you carefully and precisely place every mouse-click and keystroke. When you see that health meter replenishing, you find yourself letting go of a breath that you did not realise you were holding. It's exhilarating!
After playing through all the quests in non-hardcore mode, I find myself questioning if I could really pull my wizard through all that and not die in the process. I've died so many times using my non-hardcore demon hunter. Maybe my wizard will not make it but then at the back of your head there's this little voice that says, maybe, just maybe she can make it as I now have a little more experience. It's that uncertainty and the sense of challenge it provides that keeps you coming back for more. Like I said, every time she goes into a dungeon there's no telling if she will be able to make it out alive but then again you won't know if you don't try right? After all you only live once.
Since you all already have non-hardcore characters, why not create one hardcore and join the fun? there's one time i was doing my usual shift-clicky thang with me monk, suddenly the screen halted for few seconds and the next thing i know... sh!t just happened... luckily it's non hardcore i dialed the hotline and wanted to make a complain, and from the call there was an announcement regarding maintenance in borneo state. the receptionist took a look on my line and said it's fine but as i progress on the line was still unstable. then i went to bed early having a thought about how sh!tty TMNut is yet how effective they are when comes to $$ collection... /end whyidunplayhardcore This post has been edited by Instant_noodle: Jun 6 2012, 09:49 AM
