Anyone using this ?
I am wondering whether its applicable for PCs.

I am hoping for some feedback from Maxis 3G Connect service users regarding the speed offered.

I think some forumers have tried and posted in other thread. Maxis offered unlimited data package at 120 bucks/month, yes you can use that for PCs provided you have a 3G phone and set it as modem, OR you could get the Maxis 3G connect card.. check out at www.maxis.com.my

speed is around 384kbps. have u considered the cheaper alternative such as DIGI EDGE? (cheaper phones, cheaper rates, no restriction on downloads.. i heard maxis post restrictions about 10 gig/month - can someone confirm this?)

I am not sure about that , but I know they block p2p and they compress images (HTTP) , so that it downlaods faster. There is no way to stop it , their server does that for you (unless you know how to toggle settings)

DIGI's EDGE is still RM99/month flat rate unlimited. If they compress images I don't notice it.

DiGi EDGE does not block p2p nor compress any images . Its maxis , they block p2p and compress image (They have a proxy server , so if someone goes thru Yahoo , the proxy stores everything there and then sends the same copy to everyone else (assuming the site is not updated or changed) , so that it loads faster)

the 50 per month is for the 1st 6 months for new subscribers who signed up for digi EDGE .. but i am not sure if the promotion still valid now. i subscribed in December 2005 while the promotion is still on. so i got the 6 months 50% off.

so far so good... quite reliable.

Hi, I am using this services for the last 4 month, its fantastic. M services is faster than D company. Although M always promote 3G but their EDGE coverage areas is very wide as well.

I can use it in the house, office, on the road, highway etc. No need to look for a hotspot.

In order to use it on PC, get a PCMCIA adaptor PCI card from Low Yat level 2.

I can download almost everything except movies and heavy files. Speed ranging from 100 - 200 kbps.

RM50 package just valid until 31st Dec 2005. Now come back to RM99 per month.
