Wondering; is there any way to beat the 30 day trial on Magic Workstation?

40 days evaluation with limitation (from their website). I never installed it so I don't know what happens after the evaluation period. No idea what's the difference between evaluation vs full version as well.

No luck on the patch.

Keep it. This one is gurantee to outperform any stocks/bond/paper investments you can get.

Btw, how was you guys' prerelease? I only went one session and was at 3-0-0, then agreed to split the prize on the last round.

The current mtg format will be like this (after Oct Rotation):
Type 2: Ravnica block (2005), Coldsnap set (2006), Time Spiral block (2006) and 9th Ed (2005)

Extended: Invasion block (2001) and up (Odyssey, Onslaught, Mirrodin, etc)

Type 1.5 or Type 1 : Everything.

Local tourny scene (generalization) is:
One year = 10-11 months Type 2 and 1-2 months Extended

Or you can play Casual. If you are in KL near Low Yat or Ampang then we can meet up and have some Casual games.

Split Second can be countered. Morph up cards like Voidmage Apprentice and Willbender (timeshifted) can deal with it. You can counter via Counterbalance as well.

Suspend can be countered at the upkeep it comes into play (when the last counter is removed)

Imho, Suspend (as a theme) won't make it in Extended or Legacy. One or two individual card might be decked but not as a theme for the whole deck (Affinity or U/G madness)

Standard (T2) is still as expensive as it's always been.

Personally, I think it's more to lack of store support than lack of players/returning players. There have been times where I was sitting in fast food outlets sorting my cards and people came and talk about their old magic decks.

The hobby shops around my area focus on Gundam card game. I don't think near Ampang area there's any FNMs at all. Certainly hope I am wrong on this.

Anyone plays Extended tournies at Subang?

I wonder what/which decks top 8 and how the field looked like.

Price range for their singles, boosters, precons, fat pack or accessories?

I have a friend who was a former hobby shop owner. He might be able to get products cheaper, but how much is the booster pack in your area?

How much is a booster from Comic Corner?

According to my friend who attended the Extended tourny in Comic Corner, more than 2/3 of the field plays with established decks, downright to the exact sideboard cards.

I am amazed how they can get hold of all those cards in 4 copies.

That shop is called Gamers Arena. 5th Floor. I never saw mtg players there unfortunately.

I usually play Casual with another friend at Time Square. You can join us if you want. We usually meet Friday/Saturday after 2pm. If you (or anyone) want to join us, give me a PM.

The odds of getting rares, UNC, C of boosters compared to tourny pack are basically the same. The difference is Tourny Pack has one more uncommon card and one less common card (+ the basic lands) compared to 3 packs of boosters.

Extra RM5 is definitely not worth 1 extra uncommon (replacing 1 common) and basic lands. You can consider getting tourny pack if 3 booster pack prices are close. Also, tourny packs is only available for the first set of a block.

JayT33 probably should get a precon or two and have some casual games with some friends. Some game rules changes occured during Sixth Edition. Interrupts (Counterspell and kins) became instants and 'batch' concept was simplified to 'stack' concept.

Booster pack price increase rumour is a yearly affair. Does it actually increase or not depends on your local shop.

The fact is WoTC announced the MSRP (Manufactor Suggested Retail Price) couple of months ago from USD 3.69 to USD 3.99, to accommodate US's inflation. The last time America's MSRP increase was during Invasion block, from 3.29 to 3.69 iirc. Remember, this MSRP announcement is made for US. Does it have a bearing on overseas market or not I don't know, although personally I believe it has no bearing at all. Non-US consumers does not have the same purchasing power as their citizens.

MSRP is the price that WoTC suggest it's retailers to sell. In other words, WoTC allow US retailers to increase their price. Retailers can chose not to sell at MSRP if they want (for whatever business reasons).

Not the best news but I find Malaysians flock to the cheapest prices when it comes to boosters. Say you find a booster box for RM300 (any figure will do) in KL and your normal shop in PJ sells for RM30 higher, you will get the RM300 box even if you know the RM30 really only covers for the shop's overhead cost.

I am not bashing about simple and common sense economics. I am just saying cheaper price > local store support when it comes to Magic. This is another reason why I think you will still find new boosters at the same price after the US MRSP takes effect.
