My 105 x 40 x 40 tank finally came! Then I was looking at iwagumi style and the guide searched has the exact same measurement with mine..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FY2tZavZ9AA Thinking of trying out iwagumi style, believing that it is considered an "easy" style for beginners. |

Found polysterene for my 3.5 ft tank from the newly bought furnitures boxes..
The tank has some silicon stains on the middle of the glasses, any idea how do I remove them? |

Everyone, I need some info on the filter.. I realized that a filter does not help you suck up the excretions / faeces but its main purpose is to pump water through the filter medias. Eventually the excretions / faeces are disintegrated due to the filter media removing the nitrate (not sure whether I am saying the right thing now.)
My HOB filter media has not been changed for half a year plus. Does LFS sell the media for HOB? Or do we have to DIY it? |

QUOTE(kimimaro_kun @ May 30 2012, 11:45 AM) batu pahat to jb should take 1½hours. I can't remember what brand is the filter product is, and I am not sure what the filter has for the media, but I am quite sure it's already lost whatever it has, my tank doesn't seem to clean up itself. The instructions on the product package said to change the media every 3 months and I can see that the filter inside is very little.not very far away what type of media you have in your filter right now?? usually, i just wash it with water tank, never replace it before. |

QUOTE(kimimaro_kun @ May 30 2012, 12:32 PM) hahaha.. yup. he going back to his hometown on weekend. I'm thinking, could it be the chemical filtration that is lacking in my tank.. There was so much dirt on lying on the foreground and I have no idea what is wrong.. I bought some cleaners (I don't remember what name was it, but it is short and fat type, not otto), put it in the tank, the next day they cleaned up the dirt for me. But I'm thinking I should improve my filter, probably introduce another HOB (making it 2 for a 1ft tank), or change the media.but seriously, if you really want to go to his house, better make it fast. before he tear up his tank.. really worth my 1hour sitting in front of it. hehe the shrimps and plants are just bonus. read here to understand more on filtration LittleGreenCorner How much is it roughly to buy chemical and biological media? |

QUOTE(kimimaro_kun @ May 31 2012, 12:00 PM) 1. clean your filter. use the water from your tank or aged water. No there is no DW in the tank.. I moved all my fishes and plants to a temporary tank.. no filter for them at the moment.. I cleaned out the tank already, but definitely would require some changes to the filter I believe.. When I washed the tank, the glasses has algae stuck on it but not obvious, the surface felt smooth, unlike what it should be with glass..2. the yellowish water may cause by tannins. do you have driftwood in your tank? |

Filled my 3.5 ft tank with water and monitored the temperature.. At first it was 30 as I was using shower water (no hose in the bathroom.) It gradually decreased until 28.. When it rained last night, it was 27.4 celcius!! Do you consider this low without fan?
