You're welcome biggrin.gif
I went there yesterday for the 6 to 8 session as well. One thing to note about is the pool water seems to be a bit murky. Not sure if it was due to the constructions nearby. Even with my goggles on, I can't really see anything further than 5 meters away when I'm underwater lol. I guess this is the only downside as of now.

Hi, brother. Just want to update status from 3k swimming pool. Yes, it really murky. And there is no lane, & also very very slip.  doh.gif  doh.gif  rclxub.gif
*
I guess they haven't change the pool water for quite some time. Hopefully they do something about it ASAP as well. And which part you are referring to when you mention slippery? You mean the pool floor or the area around the pool?

Holy cow. When I was there, it wasn't that slippery at all. Glad to hear that you fell into the pool water and not the floor sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

Just came back from 3k. Apparently it's closed for sometime already. Heard from some guy there saying will be closed for 2 weeks approximately. (Unsure) due to some issue.
FYI, Shah Alam aquatic indoor pool is not available for public until next week.. Want to swim also can't. Sigh\

p/s: Is UiTm pool for their own students and staff only? I went inside and kena halau straight. The polis there say you suka suka masuk ah?  sweat.gif

Oh God... Thanks for the information. Will update my previous post accordingly as of now.

Haha, bro. I never swim at 50m pool. I swim at 25m pool, I still a noob here. My 25m SPL are 18 - 20.
*
Got confused over something here... When you mention 25m SPL are 18 - 20, does that mean you need 18 - 20 strokes from one end to another end (total 25m) or 18 - 20 strokes from start point back to start point (total 50m)???

Cause I tried freestyle for 50m pool and it took me around 50 strokes from one end to the other end of the pool (total 50m)...
If you say you are noob, then what am I cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

SPL = Strokes per length (From one end to another end total 25m). I did try before at 50m pool, my SPL is around 42 - 45. Actually not low count strokes always better , it is depends on each swimmer height, example like me: my Height are 168cm, so my best efficiency SPL for 25m pool will be around 18 - 21.

You can have a look at chart below, for the noob question I think no need to say brother. Because we swim for personal healthy not for compare smile.gif. So, must swim happy ya. smile.gif

Ahhhhh... At first I thought it was strokes per lap... Mana tau is length instead doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif
OK now I get a clearer picture of how it should be... Wanted to improve my freestyle as I am not good with it... At least with this guide, I know what I should be improving on biggrin.gif

Thanks you very muchy bro rclxm9.gif

Thanks for your encouragement. In the adult class I am in, I actually saw a lot of older woman learning swimming. I am surprise I am the only guy around that age at there. Maybe most guys are born to swim by nature  so they don't need class but definitely not me.

yes that is what I am trying to say. I cannot confirm it 100% yet cause just experience it once.
When I try to go under the water surface, I took a breath, then I bend down my knees and body. My foot is actually can stand on the bottom of the pool if I was to stand upright. But as soon as my upper body is under water surface, I feel like I am being push upward. My foot left away from the bottom of the pool and I was like at a dead body posture on the surface. But face facing down, so cannot rely this as life saving technique lol.
I have to re-try it again next time.

I wish to go to do own swimming after the class or at other day to make my learning faster but as I do not yet completely know how to keep myself above water I think I shall not do that until I can be assure I am fine to swim alone.

I actually have a question on the breaststroke kick. If my reasoning is correct, the kick tries to mimic the frog way of kicking water, so the bottom of the feet must remains 90deg angle in order to have the most kicking force. But why the legs must spread outward? Why I can't I just kick in perfectly upright direction (imagine we are standing upright, then squat down with both legs close no gap, then stand up again, repeat this posture in the water instead). Isn't this upright kicking gives more direct kicking force to move forward?
*
First of all, congratulations to you! rclxm9.gif

As for the buoyancy part of you, it is the same to all the other swimmers. I get the same dead body posture on the surface with my face facing down under water. The only way to push myself down into the water is to exhale some air out and push myself into the water and that is when I am able to stay underwater. Is all about how you control the air in your lungs.

Sadly to say, I have bad air capacity in my lungs. I can't stay underwater for more than 15 seconds cry.gif

I never consider getting one since I only need to keep my towel, apparels, water bottle and a plastic bag to keep my wet swimming trunks biggrin.gif
Have been using recycled bags for every swimming session lolz...

Back from my 2nd class today.
Today learned arm movement and breathing coordination.
I think I am too old already brain cannot coordinate body to do 3 things. I either arm and leg do correctly forgotten to breath, or arm and breath do correctly forgotten to kick.

But I am happy that today I can take away that buoyant noodle, although once in a while still need it. That noodle keep pushing up on my abdomen made me feel like want to vomit near the end of the session (that was what happen during 1st day).

I get myself a kick board from Aeon to do some own training to increase to rate of learning.

Anyone here go to Subang 3K swimming pool or Kelana Jaya swimming pool at weekday after 5:30pm?
It is OK... Just take it slow and enjoy the process... Don't rush biggrin.gif

I went Subang 3K Swimming Pool once before they closed down for the 2nd time after the major renovation... That time the water condition was extremely bad... Have you been to Subang 3K Swimming Pool recently??? If yes, is the water much cleaner now??? I might consider giving there a visit again this week or maybe next...

I have visited there last month to check out is there any swimming lesson available. That time not yet available.
I did walk in to have a quick look at the pool, it looks clean, and because as you said, many people thought it is still not yet re-open, very little people that time.

I think it is worth a re-visit for you.
The thing I like about 3K is it is indoor, so rain or no rain also can swim.
I never swim at 3K before btw. But I think I only see one life guard for such a big pool. Maybe they are still hiring crews.

Let me know your feeling after your re-visit.  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
The truth is I kinda love 3K pool because half of the pool is 2m or 2.5m deep... However, the bad water condition from my first visit somehow traumatise me from going there the second time biggrin.gif

As you said, perhaps I should give it a try... And thanks for updating me about the pool's condition recently rclxms.gif

Attention to all swimmer: I just came back from 3k swimming pool, they are close again for renovation!!  mad.gif

This really shocking me! There just open back not long time ago, i ask their staff why close again? He told me that their swimming pool pump broken again!!! I say what the!!  puke.gif  puke.gif

And i also found that 3k already take over by D Swim Academy. Hopefully it will get better! Damn!
*
Oh God... I am speechless now blink.gif
However, for me, having a swimming academy taking over a public pool is never a good thing... You will only see few lanes opened for public while the rest will be reserved for training like how Bukit Jalil used to be... Even Bukit Jalil have 2 pools, but they will use one quarter of the pools available for training...

Just visited and swimmed for the 1st time at Subang 3k swimming pool. Thought to share a bit my finding cause i see some users reported it was closed again.

I went at 6/10/2016 Thursday 6pm to 8pm session. It looks normal to me, if I didn't read the post here I will not aware that it was closed again. But now it is opened back, I just swum there today.  rclxms.gif

My opinion and finding:
1) Water quality
    - Acceptable to me. Not as clear as where I have my swimming lesson which is Kampung Pandan Paralympic swimming pool. But I think is sufficient and will be acceptable by most users here.

2) No locker yet, sucks. So leave your expensive belonging at your car.

3) First timer need to buy a topup card. Something like a touch n go card. It will cost RM15.60, RM10 for the card and the rest is balance that can be used (if i recall correctly). Can top up at the counter. The card can also be used at Serdang swimming pool, which I do not expect I will ever go there due to distance.

4) Shower room and toilet are clean and sufficient for use by swimmers during my visit. No need to queue.

5) Floor will be slippery for some. Swimmer are not allowed to wear slipper walking inside. Swimmer must be barefoot. So be caution on this.

6) By rules on paper, cap and goggle are compulsory. But no enforcement here. So no need worry.

Today I brought my own kickboard and practice my breaststroke kick. Unfortunately I am having some minor sprain on the joint between my left pelvis and left thigh, causing my left kick has lesser strength than right kick, make me constantly steer to left hand side. I think I had this sprain during last week swimming lesson.

Nevertheless, today I finally can remember and coordinate arm, leg and breath together. Although not proficient yet. About 50% chances of success. But I am happy. Looking forward to the day where I will start drinking water from my own water bottle instead from the pool.

I am also aware that the Subang 3K swimming pool lesson service provider is from D Swim Academy. I called some days ago and according to them, their lessons only will be on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Other weekdays have no class. But I think most of you who will go to Subang 3K will go there during weekend, and I imagine they will not so hardworking collect back those lines divider. So yeah, it probably will give some inconvenience to public swimmers.
*
I believe the water quality is not as good as the others due to the frequent pump issue... If they fixed the pump properly once and for all, I don't think the water quality will be an issue in future... I do agree without locker is sucks but since Subang 3K swimming pool is indoor, it shouldn't be a problem leaving your belongings within the complex biggrin.gif

In regards to D Swim Academy, it does sounds great if they only have swimming lessons on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Just hope that on the day when I would like to pay a visit, the pump will function normally tongue.gif

Today swim at Subang 3K at evening. I felt that now got quite some people come to swim at weekday evening.
And that starts to make me wonder, what is the swimming pool etiquette commonly accepted in Malaysia for a crowded swimming pool without any lane divider?

Beginner like me sure is a slow swimmer and frequent time need to stop in the middle. And I do not yet dare to swim till beyond my body height, this means I will not reach to the other end of the pool.

Any one got any lesson to share on this topic?
*
Before they started to fix the pump issue, I've been there once and that day was quite packed to my surprise... To me, even without lane dividers, I am OK with it since I can maneuver easily in the water... In fact, I am more comfortable in swimming without those lane dividers biggrin.gif

When I started to learn swimming, I force myself to swim at deep areas and I managed to overcome my fear of deep pool area within a month... Of course, I have to swim very close to side of the pool just for my own safety precautions that time... The satisfaction that you get by swimming 50m without stopping for the first time is absolutely tremendous lolz...

I tried to swim like how you did but I tend to get tired very easily for some reason... I guess I still have a long way to learn my freestyle sad.gif

QUOTE(scoutfai @ Oct 27 2016, 09:02 PM)
So in a crowded pool you just swim zig-zag direction?

There is no general tradition where people should stick on which side? Like driving always stick on left side, something like that.

Do you already know treading water during that time you force yourself to swim in deep pool area?
*
Yup I will just zig-zag my way through...

Not sure if always sticking to the right side of a lane is considered an etiquette but I do follow this when I'm sharing a lane with another swimmer...

To be frank I don't know how to tread water when I started to learn swimming... In fact, I learnt how to tread water after I am comfortable with swimming in deep pool area biggrin.gif

QUOTE(scoutfai @ Oct 28 2016, 08:36 AM)
Hey guys want to ask do you wet your goggle with the swimming pool water first before putting it on or you just put it on when it is dry?
*
I usually spray some anti-fog liquid into my goggle and rinse it with tap water before I get into the pool... So for my case, it is still consider wet but not with swimming pool water lol...

Everybody csure can swim like me, or even much better a lot than me. Just need take time to practice with the correct drill step by step. I always keep relax and swim without using a lot of energy.

I still have a lot of things need to improve & learn. But one thing for sure is must enjoy the swim and happy with it.  laugh.gif
*
One of my problem is my breathing timing when I'm doing freestyle... If without using the snorkeling tube, usually how many strokes you make before you emerge out of the water to breath???

QUOTE(scoutfai @ Oct 29 2016, 02:39 PM)
I think the pool management does not have alternative because their changing room is in the pool area.

I think last week got an incident where a swimmer tries to wet himself prior to swimming using the shower outside. Then instead of coming out cool water, hot water was pouring out, burn his skin a bit i think. He is wearing swim trunk and naked on top. Then i saw him complaint, pack up and went home directly already.

I think I was lucky didn't use that shower head. I felt sorry for that guy.
*
Wow... This is bad... Though this is the first time I hear something like this... Usually hot showers are only available in changing rooms...

A lot of swimmer always say not enough air, actually it is because of inhale & exhale technic not correct. It is hard to explain without any demo, the key is do not hold your breathe.  I can do in 2, 3 (bilaterally) or 4 strokes then breathe.
*
OK!!! Thanks for the tips... Gotta work on this part and see how well it goes for me biggrin.gif
