Harrowing First Trailer for The Possession

Maybe it’s the music, but the first trailer for Ole Bornedal’s horror movie “The Possession” looks simply incredible. Honestly, I didn’t think it would look this good. I was expecting maybe B-level horror along the lines of “The Last Exorcism” and “The Devil Inside”, or something equally forgettable, but from the looks of this trailer, “The Possession” could be really, really good. It certainly has some insane looking moments. I mean, there are fingers trying to crawl out of the girl’s mouth! Yikes.
In “The Possession”, a young girl buys an antique box at a yard sale, unaware that inside lives a malicious ancient spirit that really, really wants to come out. The girl’s father teams with his ex-wife to find a way to end the curse upon their child before it’s too late. Shenanigans ensue. It’s a good thing her dad is played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who used to kill supernatural creatures like this on a daily basis on “Supernatural”. Then again, he did die on the show…
Also starring Kyra Sedgwick, Grant Show, Madison Davenport, Natasha Calis, Agam Darshi, Quinn Lord, Rob LaBelle, and directed by Ole Bornedal. And oh yeah, Sam Raimi “presents” it. Whatever that means.
Avoid the box August 31, 2012.
