It's a bold move by FSG, but a sensible one. Huge sums of transfer money given and one whole season for a manager to get things running. Personally, that's a great deal of support from the owner to the manager.
In modern football when you rely on your assistant to lay most the tactic plans it just sums up your managerial abilities & limitations. No disrespect to our King Kenny, he's just not up to the modern day tasks. In fact, I'm thankful that he has help us when we needed it most, he has steadied the ship. Though, I believe KD could get us to do better if given a second season, the slight improvement won't be enough to edge the London top teams and compete with the Manchesters'.
Reading the comments and responds from fellow reds, you can see we're really sentiment lots. I'm down too after knowing we've part ways with KD and it hurts that he's been such a legend for us with his contribution to LFC but things just doesn't work out now and changes have to be made in order for us to move forward.
Our current team wasn't that bad actually, the under performing players such as Downing, Carroll & Henderson (even Suarez is under-performing IMO) could do much much better with high pressing attacking football (minus the slow build-up play of KD & SC). But whoever comes in, I'm sure we'll have to experience the cycle of team rebuilding once again.
AVB would be a logical appointment since FSG did consider him before, but my heart is leaning toward Rafa (since we're without DoF now). Capello, J. Klopp, Mourinho & Guardiola are just some fancy names for us to dream, while Martinez or Rogers might seems playing good football, but they're unproven for managing top teams and with such great pressure & demand from the board, players & supporters, it just too much of a risks for us to take.
I think a lot of us got it wrong to think that FSG wants instant success after parted way with KD with just a season. In fact, I think is the opposite.
After all, the appointment of KD was down to overwhelming Liverpool faithful request after KD being LFC savior in 10/11. That they listen to the fans, and granted the request itself is a gamble for FSG. They are just taking their chances with KD and with full monetary support.
For the Liverpool faithful, especially those from 70's & 80's it might hurts them most seeing KD being boot with just a season and that doesn't do him justice after what he's been through with us of our most glory & darkest times. All sorts of memories and sentimental emotions erupt.
Bare in mind FSG is a sporting group, a business organization, they are no running tap just to win trophies and gloats. Their initial plan of wanting a younger & hunger manager to lay up a rebuilding project is better, sustainable and more suitable for the club in the long run.
After a lacklustre season with KD, FSG has taken a bold step of cutting it short in order to works their initial plan. Even though, it goes against and hurts the sentimental lots. That's what FSG believe would benefit them most and more sustainable for the club in order to stay among the elites on & off the pitch. I for one wouldn't disagree on this.

If FSG insist of appointing young manager, this just comes down to AVB, Rodgers, Lambert & Martinez or Klopp.
With young manager, we need a respectable and proven DoF to be able to get hold of situations. Or else, there will be pressure pilling all over the place if thing goes slightly wrong.

With this major football restructuring for the club, I'm expecting there will be a lot of ups-downs & hiccups from the team this coming season, regardless of who we're appointing as our DoF & manager.
It's feel like changing the car stock engine to a bigger horsepower. The type of engine puts in will soon leads to more upgrade and fine tuning to different parts of the car to fully utilize the greater horsepower within the car chassis.
If the above is true. It makes me think that FSG is trying to reduce the power and influence of manager to the club, by hiring young & relatively unproven manager and mainly responsible for coaching & tactics with the players he's got.
Chelsea, the whims of RA, Liverpool, the ennourmous expectations of the lfc fans, but I think the satisfaction will be managing ours, if he does get it right. The few things going for us, (as in the media puts it), we have less baggage of old wood, granted caroll, Henderson, the the others didn't really show up last season, they still could shine, become a better stone (doubt will be a world class diamond) or somewhat.
He mentioned "seduce". Satisfaction when he's given unlimited war chest for transfer & mega bucks on his payroll.
I'll take Martinez or AVB anytime.

It's normal to see lots of us here doubting the ability of Martinez given he only worked for 2 lower clubs in his managerial career. TBH, I know nothing about him until he links with us.
Though there is nothing official about him becoming our manager yet, but I can safely say it's pretty much a done deal already.
I'm looking forward to what he's capable of turning Liverpool into next season, he will have my benefit of doubts through out the season.
Hope he can turns out to be a "Jugen Klopp" for us.
