BBC Football is the site that I use the most, basically the first thing I opened everyday is BBC Football on my laptop and phone when I woke up, and that's the impression I got the more I read their articles and watched their videos and also Match of the Day. Used to be soccernet but somehow I switched.. :/

Hahaha yeah but Jen Chang is supposedly a Liverpool fan and apparently also one of the best journalist around so if he is to be "communicating" for us, I guess he can only be a good appointment because alot of Liverpool fans in England would be happy with him.  thumbup.gif

Former Liverpool star Gary McAllister has told talkSPORT that he doubts if Roberto Martinez would be able to attract the players the club need to get back into the top four.

i think gary has his point..and i kinda agree with him
*
I think that is exactly what most people who don't want roberto martinez are concerned about.. he's a good manager but if he wants new challenge villa will suit him more than liverpool.

I suppose klopp has also rejected us like brendan did.

This is the difficult part.It is easier to poach on unemployed manager given how FSG are conducting this now.

Brendan rogers and klopp didn't want to be one of the many candidates for job. What if they end up not getting the job?

Won't the fans lose respect and support after learning that their manager flirted with another job?

To simply put it,brendan or klopp would have considered if they were the only one being offered the job or at least top of the priority. As it stands all possible candidates have the same chances as the other. This might take a big hit on the ego of certain managers.
*
That's a very valid point imo. They will lose respect from their own fans and this is the worst thing that could possibly happen to a manager. Also, I believe it has something to do with the fact that they still had unfinished business in their own club to start another new project in Liverpool. Perhaps not the right time..

If, and I mean IF, Rafa does come back, I wonder how he will do with the budget? Just saw the video of Hillsborough memorial someone posted a while ago, thank you for that.. I'd agree with the top comment there: "Wonder what he can do with 100 million in one summer and great support from his owners?" He has bought some great players for the clubs who went on and did so well for the club, such as Luis Garcia, Xabi Alonso, Mascherano, Fernando Torres, Pepe Reina, Daniel Agger, Martin Skrtel and even Lucas Leiva etc. And of course some rubbish who never proved himself in the club too especially during the last years in Liverpool..

After wut Torres did when hes with us, I think the Cup is a befitting reward. Hes out for it eversince he left Athletico. Thanks Torres and YNWA.

True that, it's pretty sad that Torres gave his prime to Liverpool but never got a medal, only came very close to the Premier League in 2009. We won the FA Cup in 2006, were in the Champions League final twice in 3 years and won it once, but he only came after the second final. In the end he got what we won before he joined us in Chelsea, when he was no longer guaranteed any starting place. I guess it's fated. hmm.gif So it's good to see him got the redemption with all the things that he didn't get to win with us..

Thanks a lot for the videos. How I missed the time when we had Mascherano, Alonso, Benayoun with Torres. Don't forget Sissoko, Crouch, Riera etc too. Liverpool was such a good team, we were..

Tell me about it ... Alonso, Mascherano, Torres .. we "kinda" made them sad.gif

Why did it have to come down to this :'( we honestly look like we are decades from Chelsea, Man City, Man United and Arsenal even though we've managed to get results against them.
*
True man.. Things started to fall apart when we sold Alonso in 2009, without a proper replacement for him. We could have challenged the Premier League properly in 2009-2010 considering how strong the team performed the season before, we just needed some improvement in squad strength, but instead we sold one of the best players in the squad.. sad.gif Imagine Alonso stayed with us and we got Suarez in the team without Torres leaving.. As much as I respect Rafa as one of the best managers in our history, I just felt he built the team and dismantled it himself piece by piece somehow.. Not sure how long we Liverpool fans have to wait again to see the team challenge the title.

That one I know. It wasn't really a secret either anyway back in those years at 2008 and 2009.

It is said that before signing downing, commoli suggested to dalglish to take up mata for left wing position. But dalglish decided against it and opt for downing instead. I wasn't that disappointed if I do not know bout this.. But now that I read about it, who would opt for downing instead of mata seriously.

Ps: I do not have the source as I read it thru twitter.. Koptalk or something. They actually posted an article bout this news, but its months back. Probably needed some digging for it.
*
http://www.koptalk.co.uk/201204214418/Live...rt-downing.html

" Reports today claim that Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish turned down the opportunity to sign Juan Mata in favour of Stewart Downing purely because he was British.
*Sources close to former Reds director of football Damien Comolli claim that the Frenchman was frustrated at Dalglish's insistence on chasing British players rather than foreign imports that can often be more cost effective.
One report today claims: 'Comolli feels that the American owners and manager Kenny Dalglish pushed him towards a transfer policy of targeting young British players even though he advised them that there was more value for money abroad.
'For example, Comolli is believed to have been extremely interested in signing Juan Mata last summer from Valencia and received encouragement from the Spaniard's representatives. Dalglish was not so keen and the Reds instead signed an expensive compromise in Stewart Downing from Aston Villa for £20 million.'
During that transfer window, KOPTALK continually maintained that Mata was up for a move to Anfield and that his father had met and spoken with the Reds on several occasions. Juan Mata Senior - who is also the player's agent - had commented how his son was in awe of Liverpool's history and status as one of the biggest clubs in Europe. Despite big-money offers from other clubs, we believe Liverpool had a real chance of signing the player, which is why we were adamant about our chances.
* When reports say 'sources close to..', this is often actually the person at the centre of such reports who is commenting off-the-record. In this case for example, this could be Comolli himself, although there is nothing to suggest that is the case."

Seems like Mata was keen on joining us as well. Of course these are just rumours and we can't 100% believe it but if it's true, We missed a big player, one that is MUCH better than Downing. He could have been the star for us. Anyway, I hope this is not true. doh.gif
